<h2>Boss to head down foreign route</h2><div>Barnsley boss Simon Davey has been scouring Europe and South America for talent - and looks set to head once more down the foreign route and finally land a new signing and ease the growing frustration of the fans. Davey, who missed out on the signing of Chesterfield striker Jamie Ward, is hoping to bolster his squad before the midweek clash with Ipswich. He is again looking at as yet un-named overseas stars on trial, one of them a striker, with a view to a possible move.</div><div></div><div>http://www.barnsley-chronicle.co.uk/sport/2,0000,2336.html </div>
he as to take these risks because the feckin agents are bleeding clubs dry,if we dont back the manager and the board i see them walkin shortly, there not happy at the moment the flak there getting ,would anyone else like to invest 10 million in bfc any offfers
I can believe that it's a thankless job really-but in the darkest moments just remember 4 words</p> </p> < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < Peter Doyle Sean Lewis</p>
Not for me too be critical but making claims of substantial funds, need 2 strikers, failed attempt to bring in phillips with no alternative and the Howard money in the bank etc are forced to cause some unrest especially when we appear currently to be sat on our hands regarding our scoring problems. our PR WRT these issues has been a bit poor.
why not get a striker from abroad its a risk like owt else wot if he get a striker in whos better than phillips or ward and on 5,000 a week less wages and small fee like 400.000 we was gonna pay 4 a 3rd div player
thats my sentiments smithie ,we cant afford to pay 4th division strikers 4k a week ,and our chairman will not be held to ransom ,you cant fault him for that,he likes davey cos he gets off his arse and hunts for players, unlike richie who waited for players to come knocking on his door for trials eg cadamatari
When this new rule comes in about fielding a set number of home grown players we won't be able to field a team. I'm sorry but I refuse to believe that there aren't strikers out there in this country that we can either loan or buy.
cant believe that he's only looking at ONE striker so if this one falls through or isnt good enough then what? Davey loves putting all his eggs in the one basket doesnt he
SEan Lewis did nothing wrong and had the club sold from under his feet before he had been given any time to even try to find funding to back his ambitious plans to make barnsley self sufficient in the long term
RE: cant believe that he's only looking at ONE striker Not at all having a dig, but how do you know he's only looking at one striker? I'm sure I've even read somewhere a quote from Davey stating that he is aware he needs two strikers.
Sean Lewis was a puppet figure who didn't have any financial plans in the first place, IMO. I count myself and this club incredibly lucky that Patrick Cryne stepped in or I don't think this club would be here now.
the chronicle says that he's trialling players, one of them is a striker. If that is accurate then it certainly hints that davey is only looking at one striker
I'm inclined to agree He seemed to talk sense and I was impressed whenever I heard him speak. Give me Patrick Cryne anyday mind.
