Don't understand why he hasn't been given a chance, looked solid at the start of last season and then was dropped for seemingly no reason. Will hopefully get a run in the team now.

Has he been playing well in the U21's?

Give him a run in the team now Pearson has departed.

It will make him or break him and if he aint up to it get rid.

The problem is a lot of the younger lads are never given a proper run to determine if they make the grade. One poor performance and there dropped straight away which is hardly ideal for the confidence.

The crowd at Oakwell aren't the most patient of souls if a player is having a poor game but its something these lads will need to become used to, being a professional footballer.

    It also builds character

Chester fans were full of praise for him last season. At the start of the season we did agree a deal with a team from Finland who wanted to take him on a season long loan but Brad declined the offer because he didn't want to leave his girlfriend or summat.

Not sure I'd feel comfortable with a Hourihane and Abbott central two. Can't imagine we'd be very solid.

I'm all for him being back-up, but not first choice (even if it's only until Scowen is fit).

They'd dovetail nicely Blivy. Brad likes to sit deep and keep the game moving forward. Recycling the ball along. That allows the other midfielder to push on.

I'd be really annoyed if they bring in Neil Kilkenny before giving him a chance because I can't see him doing anything that Abbott can't.

I think Abbott's got a mistake or two in him tbh and there's no need to throw him in at this level unless we have to. The last time I saw him he looked to lack awareness of the opposition players around him. Definitely a player in there though.

Disagree. The last time in got a chance he did well before Wilson got a different option and yet again just dumped a younger player.

Seeing him LOTS over the last 2/3 years i'd say give him a real go. He's better in a 3 but he should be given a chance. The last time I saw him play before Christmas he did well.

He's a determined in the tackle too

What's the point of these young lads being here if they never get a chance .

'Yet again just dumped a younger player'

Think you've got the wrong manager. He gave more youngsters a chance than any other Barnsley manager in my lifetime.

And by dumped you mean he started the season because new signing James Bailey was injured. Bailey was always going to come back into the side when fit & as Abbott's a holding midfielder it's very rare he'll come off the bench

Proper solid league one lower championship midfielder.

Kilkenny would be bang on. Possibly the perfect recruit in that position.

Wouldn`t surprise me one bit if he played Mawson in midfield and brought back Nyatanga.

Yes he was dumped, a good manager will stick with the younger player like Jackett did with Iorfa and Hause.

They brought in the impressive Byrne of last season for what i would imagine would be good money. Jackett's stuck with the 20 year olds and they have gone on from strength to strength.

He went from him to Bailey whos now in the retirement home of the shitty Indian league whilst at the age of 27?

he was dumped after an absolutely horrendous performance in his last game. Not saying it's right that he was dropped and not given another go but I'm sure he was taken off at half time for being awful.

So why did he keep picking Turnbull or Ramage or Brown or Lita or Treacy and I could go on.

Every player will have bad games Andy. Stones had bad games whilst at Barnsley but Keith Hill been a good manager stuck with him and defended him.

Reece Brown had a shocker at Yeovil and I can't think of a word to describe Leroy Lita's performance that was with Browns at Port Vale the worst i saw last season but guess what. He was on the team sheet for the next league game. Leroy (I will not run for 60 plus minutes ) Lita and Reece (Can I back off onto the pontefract road) Brown

Been in Ghana with some International team mates by the looks that are friends.

Coming home now though. tough decisions await Merc or Ferrari to drive first? Wonder which he'll pick or will it be another of his cars?

Edit. Hes having a trip to ayia Napa.

Lifes shocking for theformer Arsenal midfielder or Ghana international which ever way you look at things.

James Bailey probably has a similar dilemma. And that shows just what's wrong with football.

Does he still make you Barnsley best XI?
