Just seen one of the radio sheff guys tweet that we won't be pursuing the deal as Liverpool want more compensation than we're willing to pay. This leads me to ask, why on earth are we no doubt putting a lad up in a local hotel & wasting the time of our coaches training him & seeing how he gets on before checking to see whether we can actually afford him? Seems bizarre to me.
Alternatively, why waste time sorting out a figure when you don't know how good the player actually is, or if he's good enough at all? Works both ways.
No it doesn't. You find out how much he'd cost then take him on trial. Simple really. Complete waste of money doing what we've done
Maybe we knew roughly what he'd cost and took him on trial with on the basis that we'd be willing to meet that fee for a first team player. But maybe it now looks like he's not as close to the finished article as we expected, and whilst we'd still like to sign him it's a bit of a punt and we can no longer justify paying the same fee?
