Mayweather v McGregor fight live on Sky Box office. Just announced. Meaning Sky subscribers will now be inundated with features, interviews, special shows, articles, opinion pieces for the next month solid telling us how this is the fight of the century and not to be missed. while if ITV had it exclusively you wouldn't have heard a word from Sky about the fight and they would even deny it even exists
That's true, Sky Sports News is merely a way of getting people to subscribe to their sports channels. Before they had Formula 1 it was barely mentioned, they buy the rights and suddenly it's as if they invented it...in the same way that the Champions League apparently no longer exists.
Don't get the fascination of staying up until 3am to watch it. I like boxing, but I'm not into MMA. Seems to be the latest cool thing to do/watch. Everyone with a par of particularly long sports shorts seem to be at it. But even a boxing match, I wouldn't stay up past midnight to watch unless I was out for another reason. So much easier to get up the morning after and watch the no doubt, dozens of replays online. I even manage to avoid the result most of the time.
Sky and all the Box Office over priced charade has killed boxing for me. Back in the early 90s, I could probably name ten boxers in each weight division, now I can't name ten full stop due to Sky overhyping bang average fighters and making us pay through the nose to watch someone you've barely heard of clobber someone you've never heard of.
It's barmy, we've got potentially one of the fights of the decade, maybe longer in Golovkin - Canelo in September which Sky didn't even try to get & instead they get this freak show. If anyone's daft enough to buy this good luck to them.
I remember when Ali and a Wrestler where paid a fortune to fight each other in the 70-80s. When the bell went the wrestler got down on the floor in the crab position and spent all the fight trying to trip Ali. It was a complete farce.
