Actually though James Bree did OK for the most part yesterday, he wasn't great but then the Chesterfield winger was MOTM so it was always going to be a difficult game wether Bree or Williams played.

Bree gave us far more in an attacking sense, overlapping and indeed set up a great chance for Winall who maybe should have done better with. The major fault of course is failing to get a tackle in, especially in areas it's not going to hurt us. Stop the winger early with a tackle or indeed a foul, we've seen many many teams employ that tactic in this league this season, Williams being an out and out defender may have done this who knows

We didn't lose yesterday however because of this, we could and should have scored about 5, numerous chances, scrambles and the woodwork etc with maybe a penalty thrown in too, they had 3 shots and missed a sitter too but were a big team who were organised and got lucky on occasions, if we'd scored first I think we would have won at a canter

Did Bree start at Chesterfield first game of the season?

If so, he had his arse handed to him then as well playing against the exact same winger.

Think it was Josh Scowen started right wing back, but I could be wrong. George Williams came on, and misplaced a header for which he got absolutely over the top criticism, including from Lee Johnson. Ended up at Barrow on loan...all very different now.

Surely the priority of a defender is to defend. Bree cost us the game at Gillingham, Fleetwood JPT S/F which then had to go to penalties and yesterday which was a very important game for our play off chances. Bree is going to be a very good player no doubt about it but at the moment Williams is by far the better defender and you know exactly what you will get from him at this critical time of the season. First error in judgement by Hecky since taking over.

You really think one player cost us the game yesterday? I really do despair

He was extremely unlucky with the good tackle he made for their second goal, ball could have gone anywhere else and they wouldn't have scored. He was against the best player on the pitch and for the most part did well.

So you don't think Bree played a big part in both of their goals?

    Agree with this.

We have played a lot worse this season & won.

Chesterfield did a job on us, 3 late tackles on Hourihane, Hammill & White in the first 15 minutes, all unpunished by an inept referee.

Their keeper played a blinder & we missed some gilt edged chances, although none as bad as Lee Novak's howler. My 80 year old Dad would have turned that one in.

Will show Hecky's credentials how he gets the team set up for Tuesday, in what now is a must win game.

I thought Bree was one of our better players in the first half but struggled in the second.

He'll make mistakes, he's a kid who's spent most of his career as a midfielder but some of his play in the first half with Isgrove was quality & the cross he dragged back for Winnall was top drawer.

I'm not sure I see this massive injustice against Williams, from what I've seen of him he's a much better left back than right & cost us a goal himself last sunday yet because we won the game nothing gets said about that one.

At the same time Mawson balls'd up for the first Chesterfield goal, completely lost his man & very little is said.
