Less than two months into the season. After deciding Mark Warburton wasn't the man to continue leading the club, even though he took them to the Play Offs after winning promotion from Division 1, they appointed Marinus Dijkhuizen in the Summer. http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/news/a...n-leaves-brentford-football-club-2714294.aspx
I couldn't see the logic of removing Warburton. But once the owner had decided on that course of action, along with the huge turnover in the coaching and playing staff over the Summer, then it seems even more illogical not to give the new man the time to stamp his style on the club. I think Mark Warburton has handled himself far better & with greater dignity than anyone at Griffin Park.
I think we all knew this one would end in tears! Crazy to ditch a well working successful regime and change the total footballing and managerial ethos when they were riding the crest if a wave! Madness
In fairness, Warburton wasn't sacked as such, he was forced to leave though. He didn't agree with the new owner's ways of doing things and was basically told you do it our way or you can walk. Should have done more to keep him. As for sacking this new bloke, who the hell do they think they are? It's all very good wanting to progress but sacking a new manager just because they're not top 6 after EIGHT GAMES ffs. They've nearly always been a third tier club with crowds around the 5,000 mark, nothing wrong with ambition but expecting to steam roller a division they've spent all of 11 seasons in in their 125 year existence is ridiculous.
They were mad to get rid of Warburton and something tells me they are now going to reap what they have sowed. Historically they are a lower league club and after one good season in the championship it sounds like they think they have a divine right to be top six. I always felt that they would struggle this season, they are a small club in the championship. I wouldn't be surprised to see them relegated this season.
I never really get why they sack managers after games like Saturdays. They spent the majority of the game with 10 men and only lost 2-1 and the Wednesday manager admitted they were lucky to win. It's hardly the manager's fault that they had a man sent off is it?
Yes but they have had some time as a First Division club as well but I tend to think of them at Third Division level mostly
