Re: Very sad to hear that One of our own, the Greenhoff brothers. Very sad loss can't have been more that 60?
The Greenhoff brothers - the reason I started following football. 1976 Cup Final - Southampton v Man Utd. Barnsley and Holgate school connection. Sad to lose someone so young.
Fecking hell is it me or is it dying season just seems to be thread after thread of R I P Very sad news
I thought it was just Jimmy that went to Holgate. I only recall seeing Jimmy's name on the board in the hall that had the names of everyone with International honours. I think Jimmy was only noted as playing for England U-21s. I am thinking back nearly 30 years though, so I could be wrong!
You are right that it was only one of them, but I was pretty sure that it was Brian, not Jimmy whose name was on the board! Got me thinking now.... So, we must have been there the same time as me. I was in Locke Sadler 1979-84. What about you?
It was Jimmy who was at Holgate I had a schoolbook that he'd been the previous custodian of. Brian was the cousin of a class mate of mine. I'm guessing he'd be about 59 or 60.
You played football with Gordon Ottershaw out in the yard on many an occasion..... I'll let him tell you the rest.
jimmy was holgate : I think Brian was Raley:saw him at bellend road when we played them in the prem year: Had a good chat - he luved his footie career thought he should have done better and regretted not pushing his cricket career on.Nice bloke and a very nice family RIP one of our own
What sad news. I was in the same class as his brother for a few years at Holgate. Just looked him up on Wiki to see what happenned to him - it's so sad they fell out and ended up not talking. Hope they made it up before Brian died.
