Portsmouth have confirmed the immediate release of six players as they continue to cut costs. Captain Brian Howard, defenders Mustapha Dumbuya, Jon Harley and Lubomir Michalik, midfielder Lee Williamson and striker Luke Rodgers have all left Fratton Park at the end of their contracts

Still feel Howard could do a job in the Championship, likewise Williamson...

Who would you have Howard in the team for? Dawson? Perkins?

Don't doubt he's still a good player but he won't be what he was and he isn't what we need

A big fat no, I'm afraid.

I'd like us to be able to pinch the lad Bostwick off Peterbro. Quality anywhere in defence. Would be a great replacement should we cash in on Stones.

pompey fans have not taken to him at all, lack of percieved effort being the main problem, injured at the mo too.

williamson hasnt gone down well either to be honest, hes been played all accross the midfield and never settled it seems.

i'd have howard back in a shot if he can re capture the form he showed in our cup run season, as that was a while ago now its probably debatable if he could.

No. In Howards case his best days are definitely behind him.

I don't. He gave us some good days but that was five years ago back in 2008. If he didn't have a past with us you'd not be wanting someone who's done so little in the past 3-4 years.

Wouldn't touch Brian Howard. Nothing to do with history. He's just not good enough

Don't think they fit our priorities, but Mihalik might and I think we were connected with him when he left Carlisle. We ought to be able to do better than these, though.

He's no longer good enough for us. He hasn't torn any trees up since he took the Sheffield ££££££££££££££££

Might be worth a trial. I suspect the fact that neither have ripped up any trees at the bottom of Div 1 isn't a good sign though.

Think it's the first time I have ever said this but I wouldn't have him back any more. Probably wouldn't get in our side now so would be a wasted wage. None of them have been performing in L1 so probably a no to them all.

I wouldn't take any off of that list.

I'd have taken Williamson at the start of thew season, but he wouldn't get anywhere near our midfield at the moment.

I'd have taken Harley a few years ago but he's getting on a bit.

As for Howard, he's done nothing of note since leaving us, and for me would be AT LEAST 5th choice central midfielder behind Perkins, Dawson, O'Brien and Mellis.

As BrunNer says, a trial could do no harm. There would be no place in the team for him regards replacing Dawson or Perkins, but as the extra midfielder maybe.
