If hes not allowed to join Sheffield United..according to the Daily Mail. Make him train with the kids and run his contract out.

    I'd do the same.

    This could turn very sour.

    Why?

It's been made clear he won't play for us again. What do you want him to do?

    RE: Why?

As long as he has a contract with us he should give his best though.

Refusing to play or playing badly is very unprofessional behaviour in my opinion, so if it's true then he deserves to be called a ******.

RE: Howard seems to think none of this is his fault

Howard got it into his own head that his high profile performances last year deserved a move to a big club. None came in for him tho.

The club has separated him from the 1st team because he has ensured we need to sell him now. He won't be persuaded to even talk about a new contract, and his performances on the pitch have been poor. For all we know he may also have been a disruptive influence in the dressing room too. Team performances (not results) have been better since his isolation.

Howard's now stamping his feet because his club of choice - one of our bitter local rivals - haven't come up with a good enough offer even at the cut-price rate that Howard has engineered through this whole situation.

The one party that will lose out when he moves on is Barnsley Football Club... we cannot attract players who have already proven to have Howard's talent, and they'd cost too much anyway.

So... why should we feel an ounce of sympathy for the guy???

We should refuse to sell to local rivals.

Charlton or Barnsley reserves Brian take your pick.

    Can we afford it though?

£500k would still be better than nothing at all at the end of the season.

If true that is ridiculous. Although it may be that he has not been performing to his best already this season. I hope that is not true, it will not do the player or the club any good. If he does threaten that then the club should put him on gardening leave and refuse him access to the club's training and support facilities entirely.

I love watching Howard play but to threaten to go on strike smacks of arrogance beyond belief. The club stuck with him when he was recovering from his injury. OK we all know he wants to go and there is always a compromise situation. Please go on good terms rather than threaten to go on strike.

Bit of an empty threat considering they aren't playing him anyway.

How would they tell if he's on strike?

I'd keep him for the rest of his contract and play him at left back

He got to be better than anything else we have.
