The true value/cost to us will be realised come next May ......... ........ if we sell and don't replace adequately, although I am quite happy and encouraged that Mr Cryne appears to be taking a more 'hands on' approach so hopefully with his good business sense and genuine commitment to BFC, there won't be any silly 'selling us down the river' deals, just to make a quick buck
Cuck oo.
If he's replaced by a better player - but who would that be ?
Granted, if £daft is offered, and Howard is giving no indication he wants to extend his contract then the club's hand may be forced, nowt we can do about that. But to pretend that the loss of our top scorer and most influential midfielder, given the fact after he's gone we currently have Diego leon and Bobby Hassell is sustainable defies belief.
It may take DeSilva until Christmas to be on top form again, by that time it could be too late.

everone has his price Of course it is a loss if he goes, but if someone offered us silly money there is a price at which it is in our interests to sell - say someone offers £10 million we would be mad to turn it down equally we would be mad to let him go cheaply eg £1 million as some suggest
Absolutely If he wants to go and we get a decent offer for him then we've no choice, but he will be a massive loss.
RE: According to some it'd be no great loss if he goes It would be a bitter blow to our club. We simply cannot find anyone to substitute him. I hope and pray we can hang on to him.
Got to be a £4m+ bid if we do let him go. Lad hasn't reached his peak yet, what is he 24? If somebody pays £4m for him and he does for them what he has done for us then they will be happy. So he has to be priced at at least that. To replace him would be a difficult job. For me if he wants £15k a week then we should pay it. Give him a 2 year contract. £1.5m in wages. We would need to spend that to replace him, and we could still sell him next summer if we wanted. I am positive he is going to maintain his standards.
Its not a question of just 4 million though is it? Its the cost of replacing him. If Howard is worth 4 million quid, then to replace him with someone equally as good, we'd have to spend 4 million quid! At least we know Howard performs and enjoys being captain for Barnsley Football Club. I can't think of anyone in the English Football League i'd replace him with.
If he is happy to stay, we have to keep. If he wants to leave, nothing will stop it happening. Unfortunately the reality is players control the game at the moment. It'll be a massive, massive loss to see him walk away, for whatever price.
Losing your best, and most influential, player and then taking a foreign/lower league gamble is not an option anymore! It just isn't!

It wont be ... as long as we get a striker who can score regularly and a solid midfield man to play asside Da Silva or Leon. The inference we will be relegated without him is dafter
