Got man of the match (and 8/10) in the paper I read at work today, with the comment that he was the &quot;best player on the park by a distance.&quot;</p>

Don't know which paper it was but it certainly doesn't reflect whats been said on here!

He Tried His Very Best, Was Better Than Anderson (Who Gave Ball Away Too Much, But 1 Nice Bit Of Skill) Id Give Him 6 Or 7

He didn't go to the same game as me

Not that I think Howard was particularly poor, but he certainly didn't stand out as being head and shoulders above the rest. If I'm honest, I'd be hard pressed to remember even one telling contribution he made to the game.

It surprised me when I read it. Most of our players got 5, Muller got 7 and Howard got 8.

He wasted a number of free kicks around their penalty area

But pointing that out to Simon was 'nitpicking' apparently. Despite the fact that later on in the press conference he said Sheff United's set pieces were very dangerous and hard to defend.

Maybe if ours were we might actually score from one once in a blue moon.

    Lol, open as always

Asked him what he made of our set-pieces compared to theirs.

Simon said they defended ours well... they did BUT...

If you put the right balls in, they're hard to defend.

Their defence would have struggled to deal with Gillespie's balls in, and ours would have defended Brian's easily - in my opinion.

    It's all about the delivery.

    Interesting

My chat with Blades fan had him praising Howard above all others in the team. I reckon we are just spoilt by how brilliant he is!

    tend to agree

take him out and we definitely are a weaker attacking force-if only he could pick the right pass more often-that's what would be his main drawback in the Prem

Werling is the best free kick taker we have

both for shooting or crossing - shame he was suspended - but if not Werling I think da Silva is a better deliver of the ball into the box than Howard. In any case we need Howard in the box for free kicks as he is one of the few players who knows where the net is

eg first goal against Watford a couple of weeks ago - great ball in from Werling - Howard finishes the lose ball

    I disagree

I think Howard puts a great delivery into the box. We've scored from a number of his free kicks this season.

Scored quite a few from his crosses / free kicks. Blackpool, Watford, Preston to name a few.
