:D What A Thicko

Brian Laws admitted that Sheffield Wednesday must now be considered serious contenders for a play-off place after their 1-0 win over West Brom.

Deon Burton's second-half strike at The Hawthorns made it five wins in the last six games for The Owls, who are now just three points off the top six.

Laws' side last lost a game on 20th February, and the Wednesday boss is confident his troops can maintain their tremendous form and finish in a play-off spot.

"It looks like I might have to cancel my holiday!" said Laws to Sky Sports. "It is a great run that we are on at the moment and there is a great belief in the camp.

"West Brom got at us early doors and their intentions were very clear - to win the game.

"But we defended very well and that's credit to the players because sometimes when you don't get on the ball you know you are going to be under a lot of pressure, but they dug in and when you get your chance you have to take it.

"It was a fantastic cross by [Chris] Brunt and a great goal."

Burton's winner was contested by The Baggies as they felt the ball failed to cross the line, but television replays suggested that the officials were right to award the goal.

"I'm sure they will be arguing about whether or not it was over the line but I think the linesman made it very clear," Laws added.

"He thought it was well over and therefore it is over. I thought it was in prior to that, but we have to wait for that signal and we were delighted to get it."

Defeat leaves West Brom nervously clinging to a play-off place, but Baggies boss Tony Mowbray is confident his side will finish in the top six despite a fourth defeat in five home games.

"I think it was a game that follows a routine we have had for the last few games at home, I would suggest," said Mowbray.

"It will be interesting to see the shots on goal tonight and we have lost another game that if it is a game of statistics you would have won.

"We are making it a bit hard for ourselves at the moment but we will keeping pushing on and I've got great belief in them, there are plenty of positives to take out of it.

"I don't think so [a blow to play-off aspirations]. Lets see how results go tomorrow.

"We've got a couple of tough games coming up but they are all tough games and we believe in this group of players that we will get some results in the next few weeks."

They have a chance... but only very slim

They've played a game more don't forget... they could be 4 or 6 behind tomorrow with only 3 games left.

Laws must have done a goo job cos they were bloody awful when we played them at Hillsbrough.
