Before the fixtures come out, clubs have a chance to request not playing on certain days... ...such as, "we've got a massive fireworks party and the police want two lot's of overtime that weekend please". This could have put the fixture straight to a Sunday. The fixture collator could then have said.... "Brighton on a Sunday afternoon for Barnsley fans? That's barmy, let's move it to a Tuesday night instead, much more regular"!
What they should have said is "massive firework display on Saturday, London to Brighton car rally on Sunday - perhaps we should have an away game on that weekend"
Or even, "Father Benny has the chance of some corporate hospitality at Brighton on the Sunday so let's play then". Hurrah!
Oh, well that's just perfect, added to the fact that there is a helpful no parking zone around the ground on matchday... It's going to be a long long day/drive.
Speaking of Brighton!!! Whats the reason they kick off at 5:30 on Saturday night when the game isn't on TV?
So the coppers can make it over from the seafront as it gets quiet? Seriously though, would guess it has something to do with the neighbouring council not wanting a successful Footy team nearby, similar to Wakey Wildcats and Leeds council at the mo...
You know.... The more I look at it, the worse it looks, there is going to be quite literally nowhere to park around about... ... It's in the middle if nowhere. Getting on public transport with the home fans never strikes me as a great idea and I ain't travelling back to Barnsley... Oh dear. Parking in Brighton with the rally on sounds very busy,
just a thought - don't shoot me if I am wrong, but does anyone know whether you can park on the university of sussex campus? - I only ask because I know it is directly opposite the stadium on the other side of the A27, because I have worked down there quite a lot of late.
I'm pleased it is on the Sunday Like Plymouth a few years back - means can have a good day/night session with football still to come day after.
