Went in the club shop first to get out of the cold as we got there early... wonderful array of merchandise, was like being in a superstore of someone like Newcastle or Liverpool. It was so popular that they had to turn the Wolves game off as a few people were just watching that (on one of about 12 nice TVs) because there was a queue of 50 people outside waiting to get in. And this is after 9 games without a win. Got into the ground, it looked excellent, all the seats in the stadium are padded - so much more comfortable than any other ground I've ever been to including Wembley and Old Trafford. Their two big screens are excellent and the 'tannoy' was superb - really loud and clear - unlike Wembley the day before. Then there was the build up to the game - 5-10 mins before kick off they played videos of big games - in the distant and recent past - with superb loud commentary and music which even got the hairs on my neck standing up and it wasn't my team. Then they replay all the incidents on the screen straight away. The only negative is the location, the trains are a bit of a farce there and many people leave early as a result. Cracking away day experience, shame about the result.
Agree entirely, as a very tall guy, the leg room and seat width is also the very best. Only glitch with pre-match was when they built up to the players running out and nothing happened! So back to another video! I believe that Acorn beer was on tap as well. My only gripe is that the parking is SHOCKING for such a nice new ground, absolutely awful...
The Brighton set up is I think a premier example of modern football and what the modern football match day experience will become. If you're into all that 'big event' feeling, it's fantastic, although maybe not to everyone's taste. Great stadium, nice touch with having local beer available, nice seats, very enthusiastic home fans (lacking atmosphere mind) but AWFUL location! The queue for trains back into Brighton was unreal, as was the queue for buses. Hopefully this will get sorted because the rest of the set up is geared for success. Slightly fussy stewarding and a few outside hadnt a clue about basic directions, but overall impressive set up.
Was hoping the away fixture would have been in the summer with a good excuse for a weekend away. But November and on a Sunday Maybe next season. Assuming were both in the same division.
Got to agree it's a fantastic stadium and they really got the fans going with that build up - shame they were silent the rest of the game even when they were winning though! Pain in the arse getting there and back though!
Were the Brighton fans really that quiet, Paul? I think they did a great job influencing the officials into giving all the 50-50 decisions against us. Worth 40pts a season a stadium like the Amex!
Yes, the Club deserves all the praise it gets. Having spent the last few years in the wilderness they now have an excellent stadium with excellent facilities.
It was a very good weekend away, I really enjoyed it. Other than the result I really enjoyed the whole weekend although I was glad to get home on Sunday night as I was knackered. The ground was really nice but I was surprised to see how small one of the stands was. And the seats, they have to be the best I have sat in at any ground and that includes Wembley and the Nou Camp.
Have to agree with seats, well cushioned. Great weekend in Brighton. Reds footballed em to death, unbelievable that we lost. Fantastic turn out from tarn. A must AWAY day venue or weekend for that matter
the beer was something called Scary from Beer Rocks of North Yorkshire, not heard of them myself. Went on the train from Brighton ,a bit of a pain but i suppose if you are a Brighton fan and haven't had a ground to go to for years you'll put up with a bit of inconvenience
