    They just extended his contract.

6 losses in 7 sounds oh too familiar. Wonder who their U23 manager is. He'll probably come in, win them the league cup and get them promoted.

When we took him from Oldham he had an unremarkable record, and some of their fans warned us about some of his kinks, ie his stubbornness and his favoured 1 up front.

Similarly, Bristol City came in and off he went. We tried to warn them, and they took it as sour grapes, although many of us were glad to see the back of him.

Patrick must have been laughing his dick off. He,d almost sacked him and had to pay him off, yet we were rid of him and getting compensation from Bristol! Win win!

Now Bristol are beginning to realise that we weren't making up the stuff about little Lee.

Amazingly I still hear pundits on TV bang on about him being a "bright young manager" and "top coach" but I don't see anything to back it up results wise. The guy can talk for England, but in reality is pretty unremarkable.

One thing is absolutely certain. Johnston isn't as good as Hecky, he's miles off.

I never understood why we went in for him, he did nothing to change my mind while he was here and I was glad to see the back of him.

Me too mate. I was underwhelmed when we went for him. I knew little about him.

The way he finished his first season (1 win from final 10) didn't fill me with confidence, especially after he'd inherited a winning team from Hecky and Bunny.

Hecky is different class. He knows the football club and is a fan. Speaks in a way that rarely differs from our own view, and doesn't overcomplicate things.

In hindsight we should have just kept with bunny and hecky after Wilson was sacked they started off the winning run at the start of ljs time here. It made it easy for Johnson as the momentum was already there.

    Spot on.

I don't think Johnson would have got us promoted had he stayed. I think the urge to mess about with the team line up and formation would have overcome him.

Promoted? He wouldn't have got us anywhere near the top half of the table, never mind promoted!

I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in Lee Johnson or Bristol City, and don't understand why he's still a popular topic on here.

    Altrincham 1 Barnsley 0.

Sums his tenure up, for me. That and treating Fleetwood at home (we lost) as though Real Madrid to the power of The Netherlands 1974 were in town.

Shocking manager who sets up not to lose, but regularly loses anyway. I didn't like the way he left, but I am glad he did!

It's strange how he seems to go on streaks of either winning loads of losing loads - it happened with us and is happening with them.

When he first took over us Hecky had changed things slightly and we had JOS playing for us and we were winning games. As soon as JOS got recalled and LJ started changing thinks and forcing his philosophy and tactics open our team we went down hill that season and continued the slump the season after.

i still believe that the only thing that changed his fortunes was Cryne forcing hammill on him, which resulted in the need to play 442. Isgrove as absolutely gash under Ljs ***** 1 up front formation and was a different player in 442

I remember LJ taking the piss out of us saying all Barnsley fans think the only way to pkay football is to have 2 up front. Ahah. Even after the way we played second half of the season and being above them this season he still doesn't see it :) the fecking stubborn midget

The guy is doing what he's always done, which is overthinking the game.

This one up front business he stubbornly sticks with does him no favours. It didn't work in league 1, and it's not working for him now, even though he's got money to spend and a supposedly better squad.

He just can't help himself though. I bet even his old man calls him a turkey.

It's like having a flashback reading that. I absolutely agree it was Hammill that changed everything for us, once he started running at players and having a go it changed the way we played the game, the other forwards became more inclined to have a go as well.

How I long for the days of possession football in your own half with no one taking risks & no overlapping only for you to finally lose the ball on the edge of your oppositions box & them go up the other end & score because your manager had no idea how to give his team a defensive shape.

I'm convinced he only ever did passing drills in training
