Barring one or two supporters opinions we are classed as rubbish again. I love how many teams supporters think we are no good yet we keep churning out the results.

Cotterell said, he didn't fear Barnsley he feared themselves!!! barnsley weren't a threat in the second half at all!!! He also said their keeper did well for our second goal and could have stopped it if he wanted, but he knew the team couldn't do without him for 3 games so decided not to give a pen away!!!

Hats off to all those who made the trip to the godforsaken hole that is Bristol.

The nature of my job means that I often see the worst of places and of all the toilets I've had the misfortune to visit Bristol is the worst. Doncaster included.

I was struck by how everyone hates each other. Snobs v chavs, town v gown, City v Rovers, it's a place that is fuelled by malevolence and hostility.

If you're a stranger beware and if you are stranger driving the awful traffic system good luck, especially if you end up in St Paul's.

If, however, you are a mugger, smack head and/or crack whore you'll love it.

So I suspect there weren't any asylum applications from the brave souls who braved Bristol yesterday, just a lot of grateful Tykes glad to be back in the civilised world with their wallets.
Suggesting that they are Welsh and they know it is a bit of a cliche and, in my opinion, does the Welsh a huge disservice.

You are comparing Bristol with Doncaster?? Can't get my breath!

I know both very well having lived in Gloucester for over twenty years, and visited Bristol and its environs often. I have had several spells living near Doncaster, including the last two years. Doncaster has many qualities but being an attractive town isn't one of them. Bristol though is a fabulous city with a great seafaring history, Georgian architecture by the bucket load and more green spaces than you could hope to find in a city.

How you can call it a god forsaken hole is unbelievable. Of course there are no-go areas - every town and city in the land has those. Of course there are undesirable characters around - same as anywhere else.

But my overall impression of Bristol, formed between the late 1980s and just a few years ago, is almost entirely positive. Go out to Clifton and marvel at the suspension bridge and the gorge below it. Go shopping in Cribbs Causeway on the edge of the city - very pleasant place to be. Wander the streets from the Watershed area, up Park Street to the West End. It's a glorious city to see, and that's just a small part of it.

I'm not saying it is without its faults - that would be stupid. But to call it a place fuelled by malevolence and hostility is taking it a bit far.

But, hey ho. Maybe you look for different things in a town or city to me :) All I can say is that I used to love visiting the place and did so as often as I could when I was GloucesterRed.

Way wide of the mark, one of my favourite cities in Britain. Unique architecture, spectacular surrounding countryside, and great nightlife. What's not to like?

I tend to judge places as much by the people as the architecture.

Spent six weeks there 2 or 3 years ago and hated it.

I always try to explore a bit when time allows and sometimes return to towns and cities I've worked in for weekends.

I found the place unfriendly, up itself and unpleasant.

Wild horses would not drag me back to Bristol for anything other than work.

I was working on an extremely unpleasant case so maybe that coloured my view but I've done the same elsewhere and still come away with a good impression of the town.

I think all of us can have widely differing views of the same city, depending on our experiences there. Personally, I think the worst city I've ever visited, anywhere in the world, is London. It's a dirty stinking place, full of money mad people who won't give you the time of day if you say hello in a bus or train. They walk around with their "got to get to my next meeting" blinkers on and ignore all forms of social contact. Why anyone would want to live, work or even visit that horrible place, is beyond me. I'm ashamed of it as our capital city.

    Tin hat on......

    I like London :)

Had the pleasure of walking it and extensively driving it, as well as using the tube and buses.

Yes there are some revolting people around but, then again, how long do you have to walk down a street before you hear an English voice?

Despite that I love it and it is one of the things I miss most about not being in Risborough any more. I used to go to London sometimes several times a week.

But that's me. Peter Kay doesn't like it, does he :D

Each to their own, but life in the city just isn't for me (other than the museums & galleries). Sorry Samuel Johnson, but you don't speak for me and just because you made your famous quote about London doesn't make it true. I know a lot of people much prefer city life, which is fair enough. However, I prefer the countryside and coast.

    Seconded.

Lived there for a year and return regularly.

Did 3 days last week, including Court of Appeal. Spectacular architecture old and new but it's the people that spoil it.

Great playground for the rich but rat race central for everyone else.

Always glad to be on the train back north.

On a positive note, there's been a few Bristol City fans on another forum I frequent who have praised George Smith's performance yesterday.

To quote, "I thought your best player, after Ibehre, was your left back. Had a brilliant game, looked a very strong player."

Someone's got to like it. Just got back from my last week in Austria this winter, the bloody sun will soon be melting it all. You should see the snow crying when the sun gets on it, it's pitiful.

The snow stopped me going on an archaeological dig in the Orkneys during January. Well, that along with my utter bone idleness!
