Deal all but done, according to Andy Giddings. Had his medical yesterday. Two year deal, with the option of a third.
Bit disappointed but luck to the lad personally, he's contributed enough this season, especially if he already knew he was off. That said, johnsons not my favourite at the moment.
Good point actually. We may all be assuming we were in for him! Good luck either way Josh lad. Great commitment for a loan player. Pleasure to watch you grow and develop into an excellent holding midfielder under Hecky. Look forward to watching you play left field quarter back marauder under Lee Johnson, with specific importance being placed on getting into the ping zone and ensuring you don't leave bomb alley exposed.
Bit weird. The way he spoke during the town hall interview on Mon it didn't sound like he had already arranged a deal then. Perhaps wanted to see if we could offer what Bristol might have offered perhaps.
Of all the players to retain, personally I think he's the easiest to replace and I suspect he's going for a sizeable payday. Thought he had a pretty poor game Sunday, and wondered at the time if his mind was elsewhere. If we can keep Hamill, Winnall, Mawson, Roberts, Hourihane and Heckingbottom... that will do me.
If this is true then all the best Josh and thank you for making this one of the best seasons ever for BFC. We move on and I trust Hecky to doing what's right for us.
Would like to have had him back...but no major problem for me Scowen just moves back to his best position .
Like the lad and loved his commitment to our cause (his cause as well I suppose) but easily replaced by Scowen or Moncur
Scowen and Moncur are completely different types of player, same position but very different attributes. McCourt is a more natural replacement.
That's the loan system, unfortunately. We benefited from it, as did he. That's how it works. In the nicest possible way, though, I personally hope he tanks at Bristol and it doesn't work out for him there. Welcomed back with open arms as we lord it over them in a giddy 17th place or summat.
I have already thanked the players for what they put into last season and the achievements etc. I have no reason to thank them again. Nor wish them well at a club like Bristol, a rival next season I would imagine. I hope any of our ex lads who rock up there end up playing ***** and helping Bristol and LJ back down to their proper level.
That's just players for you, like when they kiss the badge..... load of auld b0ll0cks.. Not many Bobby Hassell's about..
If Bristol City are such a wealthy club (billionaire owner), how come they're recruiting £200K players? Doesn't sound like they're assembling a Premiership challenging side. I'd be a extremely underwhelmed if I was a Bristol C supporter.
I'm really starting to dislike Johnson, a lot. Best of luck Josh, thanks for the effort you put in and for being part of an amazing season.
Johnson brought him to Oakwell didn't he? I'd be more annoyed if he came in for a player than was already here, someone like Hourihane.
Replaceable for the short term. My worry is that he's capable of turning out to be one of the best central midfielders in this league in the future.
Brownhill was a good player don't get me wrong and I thought he played really well Sunday. Especially first half. But let's not forget he's a player that a championship club was willing to let go to a club languishing at the bottom of league 1 because he wasn't playing for them. He's had half a season playing regular league 1 football. He is not irreplaceable. With the model we've adopted we're always going to lose players - in fact we will whatever happens. I think over the past 6 months we've shown we've got systems in place to cope with this and already have potential replacements within the club in Scowen and McCourt. I'd have liked to keep Brownhill but I'm not devastated he's going.
