He and the rest of the squad were due back in the UK today. Barnsley boss Simon Davey feared the break could require surgery and a pin may have to be inserted. Bruma is the second Barnsley player under medical treatment. Bobby Hassell's pre-season has been interrupted by a knee injury. Both are right backs. Davey is ready to use left back Rob Kozluk in their place. Barnsley have the third of their pre-season matches on Saturday when they take on Rotherham United at Millmoor. Striker Miguel Mostto, who has just arrived from Peru, will play a part of that game. Bradford City want to sign Barnsley youngsters Nathan Joynes and Thomas Harban on loan for six months. Joynes is a striker and Harban a defender. Both have been on trial at the League One club for weeks. Coventry City are set to arrive at Oakwell for the first game of the new Championship season on August 11 without defender Elliott Ward, who will be suspended. Ward, Coventry's skipper last season, will be banned after getting himself sent off in a friendly at Northampton Town for deliberate handball. Barnsley Academy were beaten 3-2 by Hull in a friendly yesterday. Danny Warburton and Liam Ormsby scored for the Oakwell under 18s.
