BARNSLEY defender Marciano Bruma could yet feature for the Reds against Coventry City on the opening day despite breaking his hand in training.

The Dutchman will visit a specialist later this week and looks set to have a pin inserted in the fracture although he may be able to play in a protective cast.

Speaking to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk, Reds manager Simon Davey said: "Marciano has broken his hand. It happened in a challenge with Dominik (Werling), who stood on his hand after a challenge.

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.

    A new signing? Injured?

Well I never. We really are going to have to stop training on minefields.
