......reversing down a bungalow drive today a friend of mine hit and snapped the bt cable running from property to street post. The cable entered the bungalow 2.5m from ground level and with sag seemed very low.Engineers are coming out soon and was wondering if it was fitted too low in the first place. Can anyone advise please? thank you

Yes definitely too low. I am pretty sure that the cables should be approx 3 metres from the ground. BT pay contractors to put cables up and they use a sort of measuring stick to ensure that the cable is at the right height. Wires do naturally lower as the are fed into houses and particularly bungalows for obvious reasons but they still have to be above a certain height and often brackets are used to achieve this. If it was so low that a car hit it then there was a problem in the first place.
