    ....is complete tosh.

We all already anticipate Hourihane naffing off in january if he puts his netblaster boots on again.

The same will happen with any others showing a bit of class.

Admittedly this is unlikely based on the evidence so far.

Anyway, do not be fooled. This business is one where success is best achieved instantly. Our sacked manager list evidences this.

Can ya get Patrick to agree that he won't sell a soul simply for profit for the next 2 years? If ya can't then Danny isn't building a team. He's managing just like any other - and he lives and dies by his results.

He'd be better with no stars and a robotic team ethic. One that works.

It's a fair point, because what have we been trying to do since we were last promoted? I think there have been a series of poor decisions in this period.

    Sacking Andy Ritchie in October.

    Appointing Simon Davey.

    Forcing Mark Robins out.

    Embracing 'austerity'.

    Hiring Keith Hill.

Asking Danny to work with Hillcrofts' mercenaries.

    Keeping Cranie.

Limiting Danny's budget so that we signed no experience to go with the promising youth talent we've signed.

In my humble opinion we've gone from punching above our weight in the Championship to punching below it in League One.

We need some vision - soon - while we still have a club.

nearly every player we signed is on a 2 year deal which means anyone who wants them have to pay and i very much doubt danny and ben will let them go for cheap which means next transfer window we have a bigger budget

We had rights in Stones but ended up getting 3M for a 20M defender.

So far Ben and Danny have taken us down a league.

And we languish in the league below, where we were taken.

So forgive me for thinking that they would have done better on the transfer front.

In any event, nobody knew Stones' value then , nor do they now. What if he'd done his ankle the first week at Everton?

Danny and Ben took us down did they? Oh. So Flitcroft, and the army of players he recruited/retained had bugger all to do with it? Reightio.

As for team/squad building, it's a simple enough concept. If we do sell Hourihane or whoever, in January, it'll be for good money. He cost us 200k. So if we got anywhere close to £1m for him, we've made a great profit. You then replace him from outside or within, and so it goes on. It's the way of the recruiting/squad building world for smaller clubs (clubs without rich investors, outside the Prem etc). Keith Hill hinted at it. He called it 'layering'. But it only works if you've a successful recruiting/scouting network. I think Keith was more miss than hit in those terms. But it can be done. See Ferguson and whoever they've got identifying talent at Posh. They are the perfect example of the layering system. Trouble is for them, they can't seem to hang around in the second tier long enough to push on.

Is Danny (are his scouts etc) able to make this system work? Time will tell. Well, it will tell if we give him time. I'm not sure we'll know if that system works for another couple of years. Of course, you have to supplement a young group with experienced, battle hardened pro's. I'm guessing that's what Danny thought he was doing when recruiting Treacy, Lita, Turnbull and Ramage, whilst retaining Cranie, Nyatanga and M'Voto. But whether you feel it's right or wrong to judge things right now, it's a lot easier to do so in the long term. Which is why I will always shake my head at threads/posts from folk writing things off after ten league games. And being fair, there were folk on here writing things off weeks ago, after six or seven games...

Which leads me to believe some folk are just born to whinge.

Easier to criticise, than support. So it seems.

That's fair enough to a point Whitey, but unless you're just gonna have blind faith I think you've got to believe you can see some green shoots in what's being built. For me the jury's out.

How much time is deemed reasonable?
IMO if at Christmas we are within the relegation zone and performances are dire it will be time for a change.
You cannot continue to support something that is clearly not working otherwise the consequences would be distastrous
I also hasten to add we are showing signs, albeit small ones, that we are improving.
The best way to counteract criticism is to deliver a better product on the field of play.
Lets put on a show in front of the cameras tomorrow to show the fans we mean business in this division!

Me too to an extent! But I'm not willing to **** out and jump on the DW out bandwagon. We've problems yes. Is DW recruitment finished No. Will the squad/team get better with time, I hope so. Apart from Bree have the young uns made their mark? No. Will they? Who knows!

There's some tidy sides in this league. It's not pub league! Did I expect us to go up first time? No! Do I want us to be up in 3? Yes!

    One can criticise and support.

It is not, and should never be, one or the other.

All your post does is basically ramble. Sorry.

If it is supposed to mean that we are a selling club, then all it does is enforce what i originally posted.

Otherwise, all you are saying is that we need to hope that the manager knows what he's doing.

    I'm not writing anyone off.

    Maybe it'll all come good.

But this manager should be afforded no more slack than any other manager.

You forgot to add is Danny Wilson the man to lead us forward?
Is there a DW out bandwaggon?
I think the criticism is down to the sheer frustration of witnessing some real horror shows.
Last saturday bucked that trend and ideally we need another positive display tomorrow to show that we are beginning to turn the corner so to speak.
