What's an average sort of figure for both of these for a property around about £200k value with no no claims bonuses? We want accidental damage for both too. Quotes seem to be coming up at £600/year which seems a lot. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks.
My house insurance with Endsleigh up a couple of pounds this year. Up to value of £400k property (mine not worth that!) and about £30k contents. £17 a month
Morning Al, I just went through money supermarket last night for pretty much the same with £2.5k single item away from home and it was £220? with swiftcover. Got a couple of year NCB though. £600 seems v expensive. Everything all sorted with the house then I assume? Congrats !
The most important thing with this type of insurance is to read and understand the policy. The small print is almost definitely going to insist that you remove the keys from window locks in unoccupied rooms at night, for example. And if you declare you have a burgular alarm make sure you use it. You don't want to get to a claim and then find you've frustrated the terms of the policy and end up with nowt.
I use Aviva and go through Quidco for cashback. Last years for buildings, contents with accidental damage was £133.79 (Quidco £40 cashback) = £93.79 Contents up to £50K Buildings: Unlimited Individual items up to £2.5 Also got bike upto £1K covered away from home. My house is 3 bed semi.
I've just been looking at mine,I've a 3 bed semi, maintained burglar alarm pvc doors etc..no previous clams..been paying 260ish..priced it up on the Meerkat site,50k contents,200k rebuild(don't forget this figure is not what you would get..only the maximum they would go to,so insuring for a million would not get you any more unless you live in a mini chatsworth),I couldn't believe the quotes..from £112..before you commit check the small print to make sure you're getting the same deal that you're getting now
Use Direct line and take the premium product. You get home emergency (boiler breakdown and stuff) and travel insurance as well. 500k rebuild and 70k contents for 38 quid a month. I think their standard product was about £20 per month but no accidental damage Important thing with house insurance (as any) is to check your XS. £300 XS doesn't leave you with many events where its worth claiming! Also check whether both XS's are counted - i.e. if someone breaks your window (buildings) and nicks your TV (contents) even though it's one claim both XS's often apply.
Your quote seems pretty excessive. Try the Skipton Building Society mate. They changed providers a couple of years ago from Aviva to an insurance provider called Heath Lambert. I'd never heard of them but googled them and they are a big firm. Ended up with very good quotes. Found that no one else can match them and their quotes. Very competitive.
I assume this is with a few years' NCB? I've found £332 now on Endsleigh but not including everything we want. Can't believe how much it is.
Quite possibly... and yes to your earlier question mate, nearly sorted though our bank valuation has highlighted £2500 worth of work that needs doing which we'll have to ask to be taken off the price, so could be a stumbling block.
