Burns - a move for next season?

"Jacob has gone to Poland on trial this week with a view to earning something.
There could even be the possibility of him going to Kraków this season because Jacob has aspirations of getting back into the Australian squad for the World Cup. That may be a possibility but we will have to wait and see what happens when he comes back"
Wisla Kraków are the currently Polish champions and sit top of the league again this season.

Seems he is trying to earn a contract for next season with a move this season only being a possibility, if he's nowhere near a world cup place then why would he go?

 

I mean why would he go this season if he's nowhere near a WC place.
