One of the best sides I've seen since we've been back in this division. JFH has them very well organised. I thought their shape when defending was superb. They looked good going forward too Lucas Akins reminded me a lot of COG when on top of his game. Overall we were disappointing and didn't deserve to win the game. At the moment only Davies, the 3 CB's, Scowen and Pearson look definite starters. The others positions are still up for grabs. We're desperate for a striker to come in and make the ball stick. Happy for the 3 points but we must improve quickly. Come on you reds! Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
Spot on. We have work to do. I said earlier, Barnsley seem to be a poor team of good players. Burton looked a good team of average players.
They looked like they'd been playing together for many games, which they probably have to be fair. Didn't think they were much cop attacking wise (although they should have scored at least once) but looked very organised defensively.
They were a very organised side and will be disappointed not to have taken a point at least. They'll play worse than that and pick up points this season. We can consider ourselves lucky today.
I agree in that they were one of the best sides we've played since being back at league one level. They can feel hard done by with the result after having a good six or so chances. We had by far the busiest keeper and on another day could have got thrashed. They will definitely hold their own in this league and shock a few much bigger clubs with the results they pick up. They try and play football the correct way too with attacking passing football. Wouldn't call them a dirty side either. All this from a team where looking on the back of the programme I had no idea who any of them were, not even one.
Didn't give us a sniff at goal all afternoon, sadly for them, it was a stonewall penalty which was their undoing.
Very well organised and worked hard. Created more chances but didn't threaten behind. They were ok but nothing special.
Davies pulled off 3-4 really good saves and they missed 1 or 2 sitters they should have buried, like when Bree lost his man in the second half to leave him unmarked to sky over. We had a couple of deflected efforts and a penalty. The keeper kit for Burton shouldn't need a wash. On another day we could have lost 4 or 5 zip with no complaints.
I agree. Had they buried their chances then I might have suggested they were a great team, but despite a few good chances they didn't.
Since Stalybridge Scowen CLEARLY been told to roll out his Norman Wisdom trip and so far he's won countless fouls. Don't agree with it but if the referees fall for it what can you say.
I thought they were competent rather than outstanding. While it's true that we had very few (if any) chances, I don't know if that's because they defended very well or if we didn't exert enough pressure.
We have no fire power, an area Johnson is aware of and is trying to sort. With this in mind you have to make sure you don't concede, if you don't concede you don't lose. Clean sheet yesterday and step at a time, be patient boys and girls!!!
He must have known in June that we have no fire power and come 16th August we still don't. The fact that we kept a clean sheet was down to good fortune not good defending.
Agree with this. Not seen many teams as well organised as them which is credit to Hasselbaink. Lack a bit of quality but that's probably because they don't have the budget
