Where to start, what a strange few days. First as of now 15 57 Wednesday 14th Dec strikes still on for 16th &17th. Last Friday our union secretary, who has only been voted in the job a couple of weeks, was approached by "several" drivers with a view to finding a solution. He went to see Paul lynch who said he'd had several similar requests himself. Anyhow knowing he was dealing with a new person, tried to pull a fast one and put an offer on the table and "suggested" it was taken away and ballotted on. The secretary not being too sure phoned area office and put them in the picture. The guy he spoke to, not being involved in our dispute, said yes get a ballot sorted. A little while later a phone call came from Area office from the full time officer who had been dealing with us who said he had just been informed of what was happening, thought something was wrong and having gone through the minutes of all meetings that had been held and discovered that we had voted on this deal and unanimously rejected it. so the ballot which should have been held today, was cancelled and the strikes again confirmed.

We don't, its been that bad that we did the biggest responsible thing as a parent and step parent we could do and move house to within 1/2 mile of her school and within a 1/4 mile of her new school, completion of the new house next week. That should keep the irresponsible parenting knockers at bay.

She still walking home on Friday though, kids have got it too easy these days, 14 miles should do her good.

Then I wish stage coach every success. Like I have said before I do not have anything against you getting a decent wage but asking for the pay to be back dated to may just smacks of greed.

That was when the wage rise was due, not December, MAY!!!!!, if they agree to settling now then Stagecoach will have pissed up their backs and will do the same again next time.

Ha! Call yourself a responsible parent?? 1/4 of a mile?? Since you are building from scratch you could have, at least made an effort, and acquired the land adjoining the school and built your house there to save the waif having to walk over 1/2 a mile each day. :)

PS Hope this helps (as thereev would say)

Closest bit of land they're building on apart from the houses at the old Polar Garage and we didnt fancy them, its that close though that in winter l'm going to make sure she goes to school with no coat, to remind her of the days of the Stagecoach strike.

No Coat???... C'mon...teach her some values!! Do it properly and take her back to the 1920's and make her go without shoes (wait until the snow arrives though) ;-)
