RE: how would you prefer it set up? How about displaying the picture in the format it is designed to be - therefore 4:3 pictures in 4:3 rather than stretcged. Does my head in, even worse when they've got a programme broadcast in widescreen (e.g. footy on Sky) but they've not set the Sky box up for a widescreen set so it ends up being the 4:3 picture stretched instead - pubs are terrible for doing that.
RE: how would you prefer it set up? i agree about the second one but the first one id much prefer to see the 4:3 image stretched to fit the screen than see two giant black bars either side of the action.
RE: how would you prefer it set up? I prefer not to see a picture distorted. Can't watch American Football with the picture stretched - the blokes are big enough as it is, though a compromise there is to put it in 14:9 which chops off a centremetre or so top and bottom but closer to the edge - works well on sport. Thing is my widescreen telly displays a 4:3 pic that is bigger than my old 4:3 telly therefore I'm not missing out anyway. Best one I've seen though was in-laws watching a film on TCM, film was being broadcast in "letterbox" cause TCM isn't a widecreen channel, they were watching it stretched at the sides so still had the big bars top and bottom rather than using the zoom which would have had the film in correct format!
