...........Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Albert Einstein I think Flicker could look at that quote and learn a little. However, the bigger picture is simply this. That quote should be read by anybody who thinks that changing manager YET AGAIN will work.
Every manager you bring in is different so it isn't doing the same thing over and over, it is changing things. Playing the same poor players and adopting the same negative tactics week in, week out IS doing the same thing over and over.
We made six changes yesterday and adopted a system I don't think we've ever used before. There were debuts for Butland and Fox and a first start for McCourt. How is that doing the same thing over and over again? Personally, I don't think Flicker got it right, but it was new and it was different.
did you suddenly have a epiphany this morning or are you simply repeating what Patrick cryne said after getting ready to employ another manager
It was. Too defensive for my liking. I wouldn't have dropped Scotland who I thought was excellent against Watford, probably the only redeeming feature of the game, and I would have liked to see the team line up similar to the way they did in that second half against Watford, where I thought we played some decent stuff. We lost that half 2-0, but we really should have scored 2 or 3 goals ourselves, while the goals against were, imho, down to individual errors by Perkins rather than a fault with the system. But even though we were too defensive, it was still a different approach by Flicker. Two of the three defensive midfielders, that everyone and their dog have been complaining about all week and saying they shouldn't play together, were dropped. McCourt got his chance from the start and if that clip reel on Youtube is anything to go by he looked pretty darn good. In the end, it didn't work, but it came a hell of a lot closer to working than many things Flicker has tried this season. Leicester were rattled for the last 20 minutes or so and but for a great piece of goalkeeping by Schmeichel we could have been celebrating a point. Had Wiseman's goal not been ruled out, which looks onside to me, it could have been a different game altogether and we might have been celebrating a victory. Sometimes there's a fine line between success and failure in football and I think we saw that yesterday. Not so in many of our defeats this season. I thought Flicker made a number of changes yesterday and even though we still lost we faired quite a bit better. It's not the improvement we all wanted, but it's some improvement at least. You can bet a pound to a penny there will be a few teams gunning for promotion who will come unstuck at Leicester, so I don't think we can berate our manager and our players too much for not getting anything there. For some of the performances this season the players and manager should be kicked up and down the town hall steps for a week, but not yesterday's.
