Sums Barnsley Football Club up. Instead of looking at ways to increase revenue they just decide to accept it and the cycle continues.

We should just ask to be demoted to League Two. We'd fit in there.

    He's right though.

Two massive events last season and this and BFC's efforts to generate income on the back of these has been laughable.

The club needs a new ownership structure.

And how would be best to attract investment / new owners? By being run on a sound financial model with little debt or by gambling any income and borrowing loads of money to do a Portsmouth?

The one subject you can't hold an opinion on that is anything other

than "The club is doing all it can, there's a recession on you know"

ie leave us to it, we don't want any fancy dan professional types upsetting our little set up.

Meanwhile polish a turd Keith and make us some money.

I do. I think Barnsley Football Club could be more ambitious and professional and because of this I hate life and everyone in the world. Including you.

You have a proper board of directors in place. This is then backed up with a sound marketing team.
Along side a proper media relations team not one bloke doing everything backed up by the tea boy from the club shop.

selling players to balance the books is something that not only bfc, but loads of other clubs have done for as many years as i can remember, why is it now all of a sudden unacceptable when in the past its been a neccesity

In my opinion the difference here is that last April the budgets etc were all in place - then all of a sudden we need most of the Butterfield fee to fill a new gap. Whereas in a different scenario the developement of Butterfield would have ensured the developement of the squad rather than making up for shortcomings in the off field management.

Most Barnsley fans would acknowledge that the club is and always has been funded primarily through player trading but we seem happy to plod along commercially and rely on Keith flogging our best playing assets and PC underwriting a 2 million quid overdraft. Not much seems to be happening off field in driving income.

true, but aswell as a 750k loss in tv revenue ,maybe they had planned on more people renewing season tickets than what actually have and therefore have had no option but to use the butterfield to plug the gaps

Well Rowing shouldn't be making proclamations based on guesswork then imho.

I just find it frustrating that the white flag seems to have been run up in regard to off field activities - emphasis seems to be on policies and procedures rather than innovation and enterprise.

    Exactly

I wish our "board" had the drive and innovation shown by Tony Stewart who has far less to work with. I think you are correct re the white flag comment - the club has given up.

Don't be silly. Every season we spend in this tier is an achievement. At least we aren't laying off staff in the third division like Blunts.

Tony Stewart is a prime example of someone punching above his club's weight.
