This has probably been asked a few times.

Has Butterfield been offered a new contract yet? And if not does anyone know why not?

Yes he has mate, on about 4 x current salary. It looks like he is going to turn it down as quite a few premier league clubs are interested and they would be able to pay him and more importantly, his agent, more. He will probably leave in the summer unless we get a good offer in January.

Oh ok, that makes a difference then. Well it would to me anyway..........

One thing what does my head in is that we don't seem to have much foresight with our younger players, I mean why didn't we tye him down to a longer term contract ages ago?

becuase if he'd turned out to be rubbish, we could have been stuck with him on a 5 year deal. chance you take, i'm afraid.

Doesn't have to 5 year deal..........

but he has always looked a prospect, just a longer deal.

Or option to extend it etc
