Doesn't seem to be getting anywhere near the first team at Norwich, would you have him back on loan?

I suppose the midfield is the only area that you could say doesn't really need any more options, but he seemed to leave the club on good terms and Keith manages to drop his name into most of his Thursday pre-match interviews for some reason.

Unlikely to happen but wouldn't surprise me if he's on loan at another Championship club within the next month.

Ive been wondering about this after Keith said on Radio Sheffield that he's had a former player ringing up "begging to come back" a couple of weeks ago.

    Wonder if it was Butterfield?

Would be in Norwich's interests to let him come back here for a month to get match fit ready for the busy Christmas period rather than being stuck in the U-21s.

But like you say, where would he fit in? Would probably have to drop Mellis which would be very harsh, or posd play him behind Davies instead of Dagnall. Much as Keith would love to work with him again I think he'll be pleased with balance he's got and not be keen to do Norwich a favour by getting a player match fit for them.

I cant see it happening. Unless it was going to cost us nowt, if any money involved id rather we spent that on tying down mellis and Cywka to long term deals

Yeah I remember him on about this former player, I assumed it was someone he had at Rochdale, could possibly be O'Grady as he was hardly getting any football at Wednesday but I think he has been back in their side for the last two games, think they realised the exotic-named strikers that they've brought in are gash!

I reckon there is a bit more money available to us than the club would lead us all to believe - afterall, they were prepared to keep Butterfield on better terms and were also willing to put up 400k for Norwood which obviously didn't come off...I can't think of any other money that's been spent on transfers since.

Brian Howard? Aparantly desperate to come back, only on a short term contract at Pompey. Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole personally.

No, bad idea. It would be terrible for morale if he usurped one of the current midfielders. Plus, from his own and Norwich's point of view - it is better he trains with his new team and gets ready for his opportunity.

No I wouldnt take him back on loan now, firstly he might disrupt what we have and why should one of our current midfielders be dropped for a loanee when they are performing well. Secondly he made his bed...

I'd have him back in a fcukin heartbeat.
However, there's no chance of it happening, for many reasons.
I'm sure it's his fitness rather than owt else that's not seeing him involved yet. But, if he was made available for loan he'd have a host of admirers, clubs who we can't compete with financially.
I'd love him here, but would much rather we focussed on our future, not the past.
Plus, it's a striker we need, unless Daggers, Marlon or Mido steps up goals-wise.

    Big mistake by Butterfield.

Knowing when he would be fit and due to that Norwich having to go sign Snodgrass, he'll be ok at Norwich is going to lose a season of his career as they have too much to lose to give him needed games now.

So you're saying The Don was trying to act manager behind the managers back?

He's not trying to act manager, but as he negotiates the players deals & signings, was asked if interested he obviously said he was - but then the REAL manager says no

So basically you think Don negotiates contracts with players on the off chance that Hill might be interested in them?

I think the reality here is that a conversation was had with Brian and/or one of his mates that's still in touch with Don, who worked at Oakwell in the past and Don passed on Brian's interest to Hill and Flitcroft as Don rates Brian and plenty of fans would like to see him back. They weren't interested. End of.

No way Don would ever sign a player not on the manager's radar.

Why? He's a midfielder or has he changed positions?

Think these conversations happened pre-season any road.
