Doesn't mean he's greedy at all. If you were offered twice as much money to do the same job I'm sure you'd consider it.

I dunno where doubled comes from when we have offered to quadruple his wages to stay here.

He will have been on about a grand a week or so, so if we do quadruple them a PL club will easily double it.

I simply don't go along with this wages argument in football, not at the highest level and to a certain extent at our level as well. It's a simple matter of greed in a lot of cases. Money before football.

Is it the player thats to blame?

I'd say if clubs are allowed to pay silly wages thats where the problem is.

Re: not really. Its all down to money

I think the lure of playing at a higher standard AND an increase in salary is a pretty compelling reason to move, assuming you think you're going to be playing. At Butterfield's age he needs to be playing regular football at as high a level as he can. If Norwich or whoever have told him there's a starting place for him, then it would be hard for him to turn it down. Going for a big increase in salary to warm the bench or sit in the stands is a whole different ball game. Then there's something not quite right. That said I'd have a pretty big moral dilema if somebody said to me, I'm going to double your salary, but you're likely to sit around drinking coffee and playing Spider Solitaire for most of the year, if something not so important crops up we'll let you handle it. Not sure what I'd do to be honest...... (Christ that was almost SperTyke-like).

any player should aspire to play in the top league regardless of how good they are, shouldnt be in football otherwise, good luck to the lad if he gets the move he wants

Dunno what a 'bebut' is, but I know you are a bit of a lovely person to keep making snide remarks like that about footballers.

I hope you burn down your kebab shop.

    lovely person.
