By my reckoning, the BBS is around 10 years old now - when did you post your first message?

I'll start - June 1998 under the same name I still use. nt

 

About five years reading

Started posting about four years ago - same name - didn't know I'd been sitting next to Ghost for three years!

 

At least 9 but probably the full 10 years. Started posting on the old BBS which was at then part of the official site. Posted as NightTyke for about 2 postings until someone based down Wales at that time bollocked me saying they already had that name (where are you now!) DarkTyke from then on. Next onto Barnsleyfc.net then to here.
And I still only have 408 posts

 

Really can't remember but must be before 1999

Coz I remember reading reading it at college.

I remember my first post as well - about playing 442 --- no replies.

Halfway through the 1998/99 season, same name nt

 

when the board was part of the official site , 96 ish ???

then on through .net and this.... regualar reader for the first 5 years and made about 2 posts... then decided i had nothing better to do with my life so i thought id waste it on here.........

 

Just before the start of the premiership season when there were nowt but fields on here. Now look at it, concrete everywhere.

 

1998 I think (may have been before) - but certainly before August '98 as I'd been offered a job in the US which I was considering and remember finding this board and also the online commentary (when it was still free) and being well chuffed about it as a means of keeping in touch. For a variety of reasons though I didn't take the job - just as well seeing as the company ceased to exist about a year later.

 

January 2004

Geoff Thomas had just been diagnosed with leukemia so a number of posters were advocating having a collection and I wanted to be able to make a donation . I'd only had a computer a few months and didn't even realise the site existed , until I saw an article in the Chronicle featuring Chris Corke .

we obvioulsy can't use the links now, but I looked at that and thought,

And before that if you count emailing stuff to the guy that had the uunet/westex site round about 1995, unfortunately I can't remember his name (dave selwood?).</p>

I'm posting under a different name now though.</p>

 

found the bbs in 1997 and posted my first message a couple of months after finding it.

Banter with wolfman or some such **** was the order of the day back then.
