I hope in a years time we can look back on this.........Andy Ritchie The only player we were likely to sign while 2nd from the bottom of the Championship - has joined a Conference League side after Ritchie left the club Good indicator this of where we were going if Ritchie had stayed at the club
RE: I hope in a years time we can look back on this.........Andy Ritchie No ambition from Ritchie then eh Nudger?
Good ridance to Andy Ritchie He was a good motivator of players - hence promotion with a team that shouldn't have really got promoted Problem was he didn't know how to strengthen the team - so he can never be classed as a proper football manager I for one, am sure glad he left (Y) (Y) (Y)
Lets se who the replacement is first. The football played under Ritchie was the best ive seen in many years.
Hang on a minute The board of directors released a statement saying that Andy Ritchie didnt want to sign any players and wanted to show loyalty to those already at the club.
Surely it follows then that the proposed signing of Cadamateri wasn't down to Andy Ritchie at all and was the board and scouts that were keen on the transfer.
Or am I missing something as usual?

Patrick Cryne stated that the only player Andy Ritchie wanted to sign Prior to the transfer window closing , was Danny Cadamatari . He , Cryne , said this on Radio Sheffield and it was repeated in an article by Ian Appleyard in the Yorkshire Post . Once Andy Ritchie has been sacked , Cadamatari left the club .
I think you are missing this IMHO
AR was not going to sign anyone that would be on bigger wages than his promotion team.
i.e. Cadamateri & Mulryne would have come for peanuts.
i.e. Wallwark would be on more than them all - AR goes, Wallwark arrives.
Fits all the evidence.

The promotion squad IMHO
on existing contracts would have had promotion pay rises in line with their contracts. They were likely happy with their contracts when they signed them.
No doubt all receiving a significant bonus after promotion.
Non of them were proven at championship level and as such it is understandable that contracts would reflect that.
Are you suggesting we ought to have paid them all average championship wages, irrespective of their existing contracts, as soon as we were promoted?

None of them were in any rush to sign new contracts and some seemed less than happy at the offers made, e.g.Colgan. Most agreed only one-year deals which is hardly pledging themselves to deals they were happy with.
RE: None of them were in any rush to sign new contracts and some Offering huge wages is why the club is skint. The season we went down the avergae wage for the first team was around the 4k a week mark.
Agreed, but I think we are paying just about the lowest wages in the championship. Some people also seem to think this was something to do with Ritchie. It's the chairman that controls the budget as far as I am aware. Also, Ritchie stated that the players he was looking at had to fit in with Shepherds budget, suddenly Shepherd signs the likes of Wallwork who would be well otside those constraints and I still can't quite get my head round that one.
