I really hope Andy Ritchie gets some help from the board and choses to accept it. Im getting sick of all this hiring and firing and would like nothing better than to be on here in a few yrs time with him in charge of an established championship reds team.

People were calling for his head last season when it seemed we had run out of steam. Luckily so did everyone else and we scraped into playoffs. We could have sacked him then and chanced another manager getting us to Cardiff. One things for sure, he should take credit for coming back to win over Huddersfield and hanging in against Swansea under real pressure.

Only difference from last season, because of the step up in quality, is we are now losing games which we really shouldnt when last season we were drawing too many.

Ritchies failure to strengthen and his blind favouritism for certain players is costing us dear.

I hope he sorts it I really do but I cant see him being here in a months time.

I agree that we should back the current manager. However, the lack of stength in depth was evident when he took off Devaney yesterday and replaced him with Nicky Wroe. For yesterday at least it was tantamount to waving the white flag. Ritchie picks the same team every week, more or less, because he has so few options to chop and change. We do need new blood. What was obvious to me yesterday was that we probably need a little too much. Less than half of yesterday's team looked good enough for the championship.

I was dissapointed to read A.R's comments about needing to bring experiance players in but he might be hampered because of his contract situation.I think the fans will turn on him if he uses that as an excuse.

    The contract

It should never have been open to negotiation whilst he still has more than 8 months remaining. BFC have dropped a major clanger by offering it and then withdrawing.

Where does it say that they offered him a new contract and then withdrew it?

What Rose Tinted specs some people wear..

Ritchie is TOTALLY to blame for where we are now due to his stubborness in realising to late that we needed new experienced blood.and not sticking with the medicore side who luckilly gave us promotion out of a very very poor league.

Shut up national red, your are no barnsley fan! ritchie is totally to blame that we are in this outstanding league, have you seen how much teams have spent in this league, its ridiculous that you think we should be higher than we are, how the hell were we lucky to get promoted last year? We rode our look at times but doesnt every team, the team spirit last year was amazing to keep coming back in the huddersfield matches.

So this man that got us here on the tightest of budgets is now the man who is to blame because we arent doing too well, i cant blame andy ritchie for this.
He has given the lads that brought us up, now he has realised they arent good enough, and has now admitted that he is looking for other players, but cant find the right quality at the right price, how is this Andy Ritchie's fault???

Its Ritchies fault because players have been offered and suggested to him by the scouts and the board at BFC and even Cryne has stated that he was willing to fund salaries of 2 players in particular.
There is no blame at all on the board as they are Barnsley fans and want whats best for the club they support and run.
Ritchie is now out of his depth and just to add who do you think set up the deal and spotted the talent in McIndoe?? it was not Ritchie it was GS who sealed the deal with Mcindoe whilst Ritchie was on his Hols..

I am not a Barnsley fan, Can you boast to being a season ticket holder as far back as 84, I can, and i am also entiteld to have an opinion..

    RE: The contract

We were all lead to believe that around the time washday came sniffing Ritchie was mulling over the fine details of a new contract. Although your right and the offers not exactly been withdrawn it doesnt seem likely that Shepherd is pushing it under Ritchies nose to be signed either.

It just seemed silly to offer a new contract with so much of the last one left.

yes we took Manonne 18 year old kid

some are ready at that age,not many, we could have done with his mate Luppoli or the lad Stokes knocking in hatricks for fun, reading beween the lines AR wanted Chris Lucketti but we would not push the boat out to get him.
