New experience

Agreeing with Dragon Tyke! I hope his life is made a misery next year for making sure Rooney (his team mate FFS!) got sent off and that he is hounded out of the country. Good penalty, no problem with him scoring the winner. Just the manner of how he got to be in that position that pisses me off.

    Hmm?

I think Rooney was sent off for kicking Carvalho in the nuts, though, and not for pushing C. Ronaldo? Reminds me of Ashley Ward's sending off a couple of years ago against Sunderland... I might be wrong of course, but a red card for the push on Cheating Ronaldo would have been a bit harsh, even for this World Cup!

    Tomi, read the post

I said "for making sure Rooney . . . got sent off". Where was Ronaldo when the foul took place? And how long did it take him to be in the ref's face asking for the red card?

    No Tomi .

The TV re runs clearly show the referee sending Rooney off after the shove on Ronaldo and not the supposed stamp . At no time does the referee even attempt to go for a card until Ronaldo gets involved . The wink Ronaldo gives afterwards may be pure coincidence and have no connection to the sending off , but I doubt whether his Old Trafford teammates will see it as such .

I think it was for the push

The ref was sorting the playrs out and as soon as rooney pushed ronaldo the ref pulled the red straight out and showed it him.

Still think it was a deliberate stamp though

    One way or another . . .

. . . Ronaldo didn't need to get involved and was instrumental in making sure Rooney saw red.

Perhaps the referee was just waiting for the situation to calm down a bit first, before showing the red card? I don't know... I just can't believe that he would have sent Rooney off for something like that.

    No problem, mate

    Definitely

I think this year's World Cup has been a bit s***e anyway... no big surprises, some awful refereeing, stupid red cards, Flying Dutchmen, Francesco Totti, whining Italians, etc etc...

    Aye

And that other twit should be suspended by FIFA for his dive when he went down holding his face.

Having said that though, Rooney is very overrated, he's done **** all this world cup.

If he was waiting for it to calm down then it seems bizarre that he suddenly stepped in before it calmed down and while the rest of the players were arguing around him.

Well yeah, it was certainly a bit strange indeed, it'll be interesting to hear what the referee has got to say about the incident.
