Personally I reckon SD & clubs have their sights on a few targets but are keeping cards close to their chests. I reckon we will announce at least two signings either later tonight or tomorrow. Is Ricardo Vaz Te back fit, if so could he be on his way to Oakwell SD was keen on him before he picked up injury, and also this Nino fella...... perhaps the rumours are true.

Basically we're all frustrated cos we know nowt, and so we're all speculating who may or may not come. But stop being so bloody negative... its doing my head in!

    Please note the following:

    1. If simple Simon had been away in spain (scouting) and was due back today, he would only just have landed i.e. watched player last night had talks this morning and may still make a statement later today.

    2. SD only said "he was hoping to have someone in by Wednesday" not he would definately have someone in.

    3. In addition (to the above) SD may have already agreed a deals with a players behind closed doors. You know they always like to wait until Friday for big announcements (for some reason!).

    4. What of the trialists, one or more may have been sucessfull and have agreed terms but awaiting SD's return. Plus one or more of those trialists may be a striker.

    5. If we did sign one of the trialists, remember that they have probably trained with the first team squad all week and so may go straight into the side on Saturday.

Free agents, here's just a few names that could be on trial (speculation only)

    - Celestine Babayaro LB/LM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celestine_Babayaro)
    - Igo Ideakez AMC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iñigo_Idiakez)
    - Victor Sanchez MC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Víctor_Sánchez)
    - Phillipe Christanval DC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippe_Christanval)
    - Jose Mari FC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/José_Mari)
    - Robbie Fowler FC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbie_Fowler)

I agree mate, plus last year look what happened on deadline day, we signed da Silva, Macken and Nyatanga. Plenty of time yet, but sooner the better particularly a striker

    Personally

and just speculating of course, I dont think we've got anyone in the pipeline, maybe Davey has spoken to agents and other clubs, but if we were close to anyone, it'd be on the web by now in some description, so I fully expect nothing this week and next. Get ready for a Stokes article along the lines of "been priced out, waiting for answers back, will go right to midnight on the 31st Jan".

Meanwhile, we will lose ground in the league.
