I need a good digital camera so I can take pictures of my work for my brochures and probably a website. It doesn't need to be compact but it does need to take really good clear pictures and not baffle me too much.

    Cheers.

In asda in rotherham a good digital SLR {single lens reflex) (fuji finepix) around 170 quid in sale at minute .you look through the lens and can focus manually . not always greatest pixels for best photo. ability to focus manually on subject gets good pictures .most cameras come with a memory card that only holds 2 or 3 pics so you will need a additional memory card + rechargeable batteries and a charger .short use batteries only with cameras when you get them.5 or more mega pixels ok . pictures made of digital dots or pixels ,the more the clearer the photo but ability to use an adjustable focusing lens gives good reproduction. The extras mentioned usually come in an additional pack at about 30 qiud.

bought top of range panasonic lumix 6 mths ago, big screen, image stabiliser, 10x zoom (which also means much wider angle lens and its brilliant. Pick it up and play around with it then try the others, you can feel the quality. Menus have modes for different shots, eg night sky, pets, scenery. in all you can overide flash to have it on or off. when off it ups the iso and slows the shutter automatically. £250 very well spent

I have a Panasonic Lumix hybrid thing...

...and I'm pretty chuffed with it. The massive lens really comes into its own when taking indoor shots without a flash and it zooms out to 12x (optical). If you don't need a compact that will fit in your pocket then I recommend them (all the big manufacturers make em). All the advantages and features of a SLR without the cost (and you can argue that SLR is largely redundant when you have a wysiwyg digital viewfinder anyway). Plus they have the lithium batteries so they'll hold their charge.

    Fuji Finepix Z10

Brill pictures, fits in the pocket, and Fuji is named after a volcano. Have I convinced you yet?
