CAMPBELL-RYCE TOLD TO REFOCUS

    Thursday 12 Feb 2009
Barnsley manager Simon Davey has challenged misfiring midfielder Jamal Campbell-Ryce to 'refocus' and get back to terrorising Championship defences.

The Jamaica international's dip in form has coincided with a series of rejected transfer bids last month and a switch of roles, to central midfield.

Despite criticism aimed at both parties, Davey has defended Campbell-Ryce's position in the team and insists his central role will benefit the side and the player.

"I'd love to get Jamal back terrorising defences, but he's probably lost his directness in his play," Davey told The Star.

"He's played his best football in the central role this season rather than in a wide role. Perhaps we need to re-focus his game and perhaps take him 20-30 yards further up the pitch.

"We want to make sure he has an impact on the opposition's back four and not their midfield."

Can we organise a whip round for Davey to get laser eye surgery?

Best spell JCR has had this season was when he ripped it out of Wednesday down the wing!

WTF are you on about now Davey you clown?

    Unbelievable!

If you want him to get back to terrorising defences then put him back in the position where he was doing it from you pillock. There's only one reason for his "dip in form" and it's your sqaure-peg-round-hole fannying about.

    This bit is worrying

"He's played his best football in the central role this season rather than in a wide role. Perhaps we need to re-focus his game and perhaps take him 20-30 yards further up the pitch."

Because it is so obviously wrong.

His best fooball (tearing Donny & Sheff Wed to shreds) was when he was on the WING. That's the bit near the long white line Simon.

    What a guy(!)

Well, at least Simon doesn't make a habit of playing players out of position on a regular basis(!)

Is it only SD who thinks that JCR's best position is in central midfield?

I just wonder how on earth P.C. is able to be so protective towards this idiotic manager.

JCR prefers playing in the middle

as he gets more of the ball. Thats what he told me last night

RE: JCR prefers playing in the middle

He may prefer to play in the middle but he is at his most effective for the team in a wide position surely! Or is it only me who things that!

If davey wants a central midfielder..

why didn't he dell JCR and buy one instead of ruining a decent winger,

how can he compare performances like sheff wed and donny to the ones against ipswich, southampton etc

Jamal started on the bench so John Barnes could look at other players. Speaking about Jamal, Barnes said, "He is a fantastic player, he can do anything, but Jamal has to decide what kind of player he wants to be. He can be a central midfield player, right-winger or behind the front men. He really can do anything."

FAO SIMON DAVEY – YOU TOOL

He his having a bad spell and not terrorising defenders because he as 95% of people inside Oakwell know and have realised he is playing out of a position, and not in a position where he can terrorise defenders.

Get him on the wing and give him some confidence.

Thanks a lot Mr Davey, you now make my drive over to Barnsley feel pointless as I can think of better things to do and my time their tedious and I don’t know how much I can take.
