Not a fan. Really struggles to have any sort of end-product.

Southend fans think we're more likely to take Mitchell Cole, and can't see them letting JCR go.

He played today - so it wouldn't make sense to me.

I'd like to think we wouldn't let Hayes go without a contingency plan...would we?...

    rather have Hayes

would be very happy if we signed Campbell - Ryce for cash but I think Hayes has been a good player for us and works hard every game, we should be more concerned with signing a decent centre half, only ten transfer days left.

    I wouldn't swap Hayes for Campbell-Ryce

He's nowhere near as talented as Hayes. The ultimate "no end product" winger.

I'd like to wait and see if Mr Davey can work with Hayes and get the best from him. To be fair though, Hayes has looked like little boy lost in the last few weeks.

    Hayes is has talented, though.

I'd like to see if the manager is able to get something out of him. I prefer him out wide, where he doesn't need to be so agressive.

RE: You have no chance of getting him

I'd say there's about as much chance of you getting JCR as there is of you getting Freddy.

First of all he's in brilliant form at the moment, which means he's one of the first names on the team sheet and has been for some time, whilst lastly, he left Rotherham due to the fact he wanted himself and his family back down in London. So there is very little chance of him suddenly deciding he actually wants to go back and live in Yorkshire again when he got so home sick the first time round!

As for the Hayes to us rumours, well in some ways it makes sense but in others it clearly doesn't. His family are indeed from the local area and he was born in Essex, whilst he does still have family living near to Southend as well so that'd make sense. We wanted him in the summer of course as well. The thing is though, he's rumoured to have said some very un complementary things about us, so why would he sign now? Secondly, why would you lot sell one of your regulars a team like us who are around you in the table? It all seems very weird.

We shall see though. We've already gone for 3 other strikers and failed, so perhaps Hayes falls into the category that Tilson talked about when he said last week "perhaps we have to lower our targets", because no offence but he's not exactly as sought after as Scott McDonald or Roy O'Donovan.

You make it sound like we want him

Paul Hayes has been a very good, hard working player for us an although his final product is sometimes not the best the same can certainly be said for tin of cambells and rice. JCR is a slightly better version of Kevin Betsy :pff runs as much as you want but does nothing with the ball once he gets closer to goal.

you can keep him for me, would rather have hard working Hayes over him any day.

Did Southend every pay for JC-R?

Wasn't there some trouble with Rotherham at the time?

He looks pretty handy to me

And Southend are welcome to that bone-idle workshy 'centre forward' of ours.
