At the risk of being told off for not playing football at a high enough level to have an opinion on such matters, I honestly cannot see what provides down the right hand side that Devaney doesn't.
Sod all use if he just runs the ball into touch or straight at defenders all the time, there's no end product.
JCR can get frustrating, with the QPR and Sheff Wed game good examples. QPR had a good game, tracked back and won some great tackles. Also a few moments going forward. On Saturday, wanted to beat the man 3-4 times before even attempting a cross.
Granted he did some good defensive work on tuesday but i've seen Devaney do some good tracking back on the few occassions he's had to play on the right.
Devaney on the right, JCR on the left, I reckon. JCR doesn't often get a cross in without doing a few turns so let him do the turns on the left to get it onto his right foot. Devaney gets a better cross in when he's on the right.
there talants are pritty similar i agree which is why i'd pick JCR simply because he has the extra pace, wi deveny on the bench as he'll seam faster when everyone else is tired
He was by far our best player against QPR, he put over a superb cross only for Istvan to hit the post.
The difference...not much, however... You can be GUARANTEED that JCR will give 100% EVERY game. Whereas Devaney can be superb one game, and then be completely lazy and not bothered the next. Ability wise - there isn't much between them. It comes down to will and effort, and JCR takes that one every time.
That's because in the main he's been stuck on the left out of position, give him a dencent run on the right. JCR is also very inconsistent, even in his correct position.
True but he doesn't put over enough crosses for me, we aren't creating enough/any chances at the moment and most of that blame has to be put on the midfield, not just JCR i hasten to add. I just wish he'd look for the easy ball rather than attempting to take on 15 players and then running the ball out of touch.
