im going down to london on saturday xmas shopping (missus's idea, id rarther spend the afternoon with geoff stirling) and im thinking of parking outside of london and getting a tube into central london. my question is, does anyone know any tube stations that i can park my car without the risk of it being full. the closer to the M1 the better. your help much appreciated

Stanmore is just off the M1. Zone 5.

You could park at Stansted Airport and take the express train into Liverpool Street?

I know it's not the M1, but it's not likely to be full.

    I always use Stanmore

Big carpark and very safe, and only 5 mins off the M1

I'd be tempted to just get the train from Doncaster - Kings Cross, less hassle! Lot quicker too

I used to park at High Barnet tube station and go in on the Northern Line, but it's a long time ago. Dunno what the arrangements are now. It was ok in them days though.

    Always recommend Cockfosters.

Take A111 towards London from J24 of M25 and follow it for a couple of miles.

Cockfosters tube appears on the left, you can't miss it. Picadilly line takes you right into the West End (change at Holborn for Oxford Circus on Central).

Usually takes about 20 mins (4 junctions) from the M1/M25 interchange (follow Dartford, not Heathrow), car park is (I think) £2.50 for the day. Spacious, never been full when I've used it.

You honestly need to set off from Yorkshire no later than 6am to have any chance of a decent stint in the shops.

I know it isn't as romantic but Manchester city centre is, imho, better than the West End for shopping, and it's a lot closer. You can park at the top of Deansgate for less than £4 all day, and the Arndale (warm, dry) along with the rest of the top shops is on your doorstep.
