a rolling contract and a one year contract? My small mind cannot compute the difference, surely a rolling contract means the employee can walk away after one year? Why not just offer a one year contract?
Well, I believe there's 2 types of rolling contract, one where the employee can walk away, and one where there is no fixed wage, hopefully it's the latter, and flicker will be paid depending on results... He'll be a millionaire
A one year contract Will have a specific start and finish date to it. A rolling contract can, by it's nature, be never ending. So today an employee on such a contract would be paid up to 10/05/2014, but tomorrow it would be 11/05/2014, and so on.
the way I understand is this every day you have a 12 month contract. So from the 1st of june 2013, you have till 1st june 2014. Then say from 22nd of august 2013 you have 12 months till 22 august 2014. well that's the way rolling credit works and the sick records in the civil service. So I assume that's what a rolling contract does too. As to who has the right to terminate it that is what I am uncertain of. I was under the impression that it would be the club.
A one year contract runs out in 12 months time. A 12 month rolling contract automatically renews every 12 months. Should we sack him we have to pay him 12 months compo. If another club comes in for him they have to pay us his 12 month salary to get him. Well that's how I see it anyway.
Snap yes that was I was fumbling to explain in my post above you...... notice I was first agin...so I WON I WON I WON YABOOOO SUCKS
With a one year contract, the period runs down until the end of the year. With a one year rolling contract the period rolls forward i.e. as Flicker has signed a one year contract in May he'll constantly be contracted to us for a further year unless either party gives notice to end that contract. If Flicker was to do that he'd have to give us 12 months notice or, presumably pay us compensation to exit the contract sooner. It's the same for us, if we end the contract and want him to leave immediately we have to pay up his contract for the following 12 months. You might remember when Mark Robbins left we'd given him 12 months notice and he chose to resign immediately. I assume we allowed him to leave immediately in return for not paying him any compensation.
Re: Snap Rolling contracts are perpetual, whether you have been in the job for a day or 6 months, there is always 12 months commitment of both parties remaining. Should either party wish to end the agreement, then notice is given and the 12 months begins to tick down. As in the case of Robins' dispute with the board over team finances, he breached some term of the contract and triggered the 12 month notice period. It is the interests of the club as such contracts limit the amount of compensation the club has to pay should they sack a manager. I'm sure some will moan about them, but they probably moaned about compensation paid to Keith Hill which was less than it might have been with this kind of contract.
but is it every month or every year ? that the roll over occurs? Flitcroft begins his new contract on the 1st of july? (is it) so does it then roll on next july or does his contract take on a twelve month from the 1st auguts, 1st September etc etc ?
Re: but is it every month there's an element of risk involved, but to a Club like Barnsley i imagine they're pretty commonplace. means it will never cost us the earth, if things go horribly wrong
Re: but is it every month Effectively every day. Today you have 12 months left, tomorrow you still have 12 months left unless terminate you, then the day after you will only have 364 days left.
Re: A one year contract I think you're ace and i'm going to miss you,and I cant wait to see you in august
I'm blushing Also, I believe you ought to organise another BBS do and make it as enjoyable as the last one you did.
Re: I'm blushing we've had one in monk Bretton, dodworth, wombwell, so let someone else pick the mantle up for another area
