"Former Blackburn, Blackpool and Portsmouth boss Michael Appleton is set to be unveiled as the new boss of newly-promoted Championship side Doncaster Rovers." Was winning the league not enough for Brian Flynn to keep his job?
He asked to move upstairs back to the job he had with Saunders. I don't understand why everyone hates Appleton.
I don't thInk anyone hates him I think it's more the astounded shock he keeps getting jobs given the fact he is both clueless and inept. 24% win record. Including at two clubs who on paper had decent squads.
I don't think people hate him, but I think his behaviour towards Blackpool (who essentially took him on the back of a relatively poor performance at Pompey) was awful. I know I don't hate him, I just think he's a terrible manager!
As stated above, Brian Flynn stepped down as manager at the end of the season. His new role is to develop and recruit players. Donny have been looking for a new manager ever since and are set to name him today. Apparently there are two candidates still under consideration and the final decision will be made this morning before a press conference this afternoon. I guess Michael Appleton could be one of those. However, how he can be considered for any managerial role with a loss percentage of 44% and a win percentage of only 24% is beyond me. His record is appalling.
At the weekend press was reporting that Paul Dickov would be announced as the new manager today so we will have to wait and see.
