Can anyone explain why I've just passed a gritter on the M5 with the matrix signs....

    ...showing salt spreading in progress. It was 20+degrees C and I honestly can't think of one logical reason why, am I missing something??

    Result! Found out what it was, the heat starts to melt the Tarmac so gritters are sent out to spread crushed rock, apparently it's better than the risk of chunks of Tarmac being ripped up by vehicles!! So there we go, gritters in summer, I'm not going mental after all!! Lol

    Different ingredients in the road surfacing in different countries. Over here we have road surfaces that have to cope with (or don't, as the case may be) +30C to -30C!

    Every year we get tarmac melting in this Country, why not just alter the bloody mixture a little????

    Way too difficult, far easier to keep grinding the country to a halt doing re-surfacing.
