I should use to fill in the cracks between floor tiles? I have just nearly finished tiling my kitchen floor, but don't know what to put to fill in between the tiles. The tile grout I have is multi purpose and can be used to do this, but would rather settle for the black grout... Only thing I am concerned about is when you start messing around mopping floors etc, I need to fill it with something that is pretty much water resistant and doesn't end up crumbling etc... Any ideas?
Speaking strictly as an amateur . . . . . . couldn't you put grout sealant over the grout to make it waterproof? Or just use waterproof floor grout in the first place?
I am using waterproof floor grout.. its a combined concrete floor adhesive and grout... only thing it dries a kind of mucky brown colour...
RE: I am using waterproof floor grout.. According to http://www.diynot.com/pages/fs/fs007.php "Waterproof floor grout is available in a variety of colours, but the standard colours are white, grey or brown" Which is of very little help at all. As I say, I know you can get grout sealant 'cos we used it on our tiled worktops and you could presumably use that if you had a non-waterproof grout that was the colour you wanted (our situation). It also protects the tiles from staining. Thing is I don't know how hard-wearing it is to use on floor tiles. Might be worth looking into, though. The above constitutes about the sum total of my knowledge on this matter, for what it's worth.
shows you how DIY aware I am doesn't it....real silly question though... this will show my DIY ability, although I have to say, that the floor is looking very well... Could silicone be used to "grout" it instead, or is that a massive mistake?
You should watch Holmes on Homes on Discovery R+T. He revels in kitchen floors!
They look like they can crack up pretty easy if the job isnt done correctly.

My guess is that would be a mistake mate. I could see it eventually getting caught and rolling up. I did one a couple of years back and just grouted with the adhesive. No problems to date.
Go to barnsley Builders up wakefield Rd and talk to one of the assistants downstairs. I recon they will set you up.
Why not try............ Black sand and cement and point them into the gaps with a slim Marshalltown jointer?
i'll give you a tip mate mate . get a professional out to do it , it'll last the lifetime of the tile . plus it won't cost you the earth . up to you . and no i aint after work , if you've done a good job why spoil it with shabby ( finishing) it'll be worth the expence ' (Y)
