Time to renew my insurance for my car, and gettin quotes of 4500, which i cant afford. Insurance company said, if i got a female driver, who turned 18 between the 1st of Jan this year and today, then it would reduce the premium to 2500. When your 18 is alot as it is. Was wondering if anyone would be prepared to help me out, as all you will be is a name, no documents to fill out etc? Please, Dont wana sell my car :'(
If I were you I would ignore that advice A female aged 51 is going to reduce your premium by more than a female aged 18. get on the sites like confused.com, moneysupermarket.com etc and stick your details in, they'll check the market and give you a price, you can then add in other (possibly even fake) people to see how they affect your policy. for example add your dad, see what it does to your police, add your mum and see what that does. add both maybe? then add a fake 18 year old female and see what it comes up with, that way you'll know whether you should be looking for an 18 year old or not or whether you're better off with yout 70 year old gran.
RE: If I were you I would ignore that advice Well an insurance company told us that, if i was to find a 18yr old female, this would reduce the premium to 2500, which when you have already wrote a car off at 17, makes people not want to insure ya! :'(
Bloody hell I've got a 1.9 peugeot 306 and I'm 17 with only a provisional license and my insurance cost 1400 quid. That is with my dad as a named driver though.
It probably would reduce your premiums but like i said, probably not as much as adding your mum for example. Do what I said. Put your details into moneysupermarket.com and get a list of quotes, then head back into it and change the details to include your mum, or dad, or both, or 'sarah smith' an 18 year old girl that has been driving a year and hasnt crashed (for example) and see which combination gives you the cheapest quote. you might find that adding an 18 year old AND your mum gives the cheapest. Put it this way, what have you got to lose?
