I want to download some music to listen to on my pc/mp3 player. My brother Chris sorted out a playlist for me a while ago, but I want to update it. He is back in Chester now so can't do it for me, but has said I need to find a p2p site and take it from there. (He uses a external hard-drive and has loads of music on there, which he then puts on mine when he comes up here) Can someone tell me: 1. what a p2p site is? 2. what one does? 3. recommend one I can use? 4. tell me how to use one? Thank you. Laura.
use limewire dead easy to use, just type the title and/or artist in then it searches for you, download it from the link below then when you have installed the free version, search for limewire pro and get the more expensive version for nowt.p2p means file to file sharing, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/downloads/2143207/limewire
1. Peer to peer site. 2. It means that you are downloading from someone elses PC whilst users can also download from yours (you set up a directory that they have access to). So it's sharing files. 3. I use e-mule, seems pretty good. 4. It's reasonably self explanatory once you get on - I'm sure you could easily suss it out Laura!
Thank you. Mum mentioned limewire to Chris and he said "You can't use that on your pc and if you mess your pc up remember I'm not back until Christmas so won't be able to sort it out!"
Limewire is fine Laura No problems with it whatsoever as long as you virus scan all your downloads just in case, before you open any of them.
P2P is a network for sharing data from other computers.
I use e-Mule and find it to be pretty good, used to use Limewire but got fed up with viruses and spyware.
You could also try torrent sites for downloading albums.
Although I do not condone illegal downlaoding, record companies are evil faceless capitalist organisations with too much money. A bit like Stephen McPhail.

Thanks. I'm also wanting to use music to add to the youtube videos I like to make.(usually all Doctor Who ones!)
never had problems with viruses or spyware with limewire, although if your not sure what your downloading, some files that come up on the search do look dubious to say the least,a lot of irrelevant files crop up, but a common sense approach to what you download sorts that out.
Aye, it was a few years since I used it so maybe it has improved.
There are apparently some dodgy e-mules out there as well so its just a case of being alert and keeping an eye on what you're downloading.
