Don't post much but read very often and know you guys are good when it comes to techy help. Had sky+ for about 2 years, guarantee has run out (typical) and have been having problems with recordings being stuttery and unsynchronized. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Tried the usual re-booting and de-frag but to no avail. Sky customer services are no help, suprise suprise. Grateful for any help, Thanks XX
Have a look on here, might be something, if not then post up the question http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=35
I have exactly the same problem. Was on holiday with a Sky engineer type person in March he basically said, screw the guarantees, if you threaten to disconect they'll do anything to sort it out. I think you need an engineer to check the system as do I. I haven't got round to it yet though..
you like a gamble? nt call their bluff and ring to cancel telling them you cant afford to replace it and unwilling to either, the "MAY" offer you a free un or 1 at a very cheap price, then again, they might say see ya, though doubtful in my experience
Thanks, EastStander, this forum is very informative and hopefully will sort out my problem. Don't know what I'd do wihout you lot.
just checked this out this morning. Looks like an e-mail to Murdock Towers or something! http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=373467&page=87&post=#2158 All the other software downloads and quick fixes apparently don't work... arse
I had a similar problem. Biggest issue Jerky TV when i was recording another programme or replaying a recording, also occassional 'no signal', had to power down/up on occassions. I paid £60 for an engineer to come along and got lucky. He re-aligned the dish and refitted a missing screw (although this wasnt the main issue). He didnt have a reconditioned box so fitted new Sky+ box with double the HDD size i.e. the newer model. I thought £60 well spent as this covers labour and any parts / replacements needed.
Basically its the hard drive thats knackered. I replaced mine and my dad's after a couple of years and they both work fine now with 200GB drives in them instead of the 40Gb they had. Bought them from E-Buyer and fitted them myself which was less than the £60 Sky wanted to charge and I got a the bonus of more storage.
Your hard drives knackered We had same prob, it took 3 replacement boxes to get a good 1. Or it is possible to replace the drive yourself.
****KEZZA**** and anyone with Sky + sound skipping problems? If it's relating to an Amstrad system then problem solved Senior Engineer arrived this morning, FREE of charge call out after an e-mail sent to James Murdoch on Saturday as outlined on the digital spy website. My PVR 2 Amstrad system was over 3 years old and out of warranty by 2 years. Replaced today with a brand new (not refurbished) PVR3 80gb Thomson and dish realigned as well. Thanks to Eaststander for the original lead to the digital spy thread. If anyone wants a copy of the e-mail I sent to adapt, PM me with your e-mail address.
I've got an engineeer coming Tuesday after doing the same. Murdoch towers have authorized a new box. Thanks for your help eaststander and IOWtyke. My hubby said noone would be able to help but I knew I could rely on you lot!!!
