Looking for something central that won't break the bank. Cheers.

I've stayed in the following recently:

Premier Inn on Lauriston Place - what you would expect from a Premier Inn and about a 10 minute walk to Princess Street.
Best Western at Bruntsfield - a little pricey but a nice hotel located opposite the Meadows - about a 15 minute walk to Princess Street.
Dunedin Guest House - good value B&B out on Dalkeith Road with a good breakfast. Probably a 20 minute walk to Princess Street.
Glendevon Bed and Breakfast - as above a good value B&B just off Leith Walk. About 15 minutes to Princess Street.
The Conifers - okay place just off Leith Walk.

I would stay in any off the above again though I though the Dunedin Guest House was probably the best value unless you get one of the £25 a night Premier Inn deals. Edinburgh can be expensive and it really depends on when you plan to go. If it's in August and you don't book early enough then you'll be paying silly money. There are plenty of other Guest Houses / Bed and Breakfast's around the Newhaven area and on Pilrig Street which would offer good value. Hope you find somewhere and have a good trip.

I can definitely recommend Tigerlily if you're with the other half. Don't know about not breaking the bank bit though. Sometimes you can get very reasonable prices, depending what offers they have on, sometimes it's silly money. Anyway, it's on George Street that runs parallel to Princes Street and it's brilliant, but I'd only go if I could get a good deal. Next Monday it's £115 for the Premier Inn on Princes Street and £155 for Tigerlily. I'd pay the extra £40 if it was just a toss up between those two. Go a couple of weeks later and it's £189 for the Premier Inn and a whopping £260 for Tigerlily. There's no way I'd pay that for either of them. The Premier Inn at Lauriston place is between £140 and £190 in August. The Festival makes the prices sky rocket.
