Always dealt with Barclay's, sound in my book, and never once refused a loan to me.... Wouldn't know about owt else about them though IE interest rates, saving accounts and all that other ****, only in it for the loans.... (nodding2fingers) It works for me....
They're all a bit like BFC they're only interested in taking yer money and they don't give a **** about how they treat you.
RE: I used to be with Barclays... Why don't you use online banking and your branch where possible? I have been with Halifax for over 10 years and have used internet service for a fair few. Never, and I mean never, had a grumble with them. They have helped me out a couple of times with overdraft increases and the like. Even had charges refunded to my account just by asking in the branch. If people stop using the phone banking the banks will get rid.
According to Watchdog a few weeks ago First Direct were the best of the popular banks. I don't understand this though. What does First Direct offer that HSBC doesn't? They both have internet banking don't they? Oh yes, and you'll not be surprised to find that Halifax came second bottom (to Abbey).
Natwest have english call centres and they will put you through to your branch, but rates and offers are crap and charges are high. depends what you want the account for and what the usages will be. i worked for barclays for 12 years and still hold an account, never had any problems. do most of my banking online and for this they provide you with a pin sentry card reader for extra protection when using online
Not sure what he's referring to with Halifax - as all their call centres are in the UK. Best interest rates for current accounts as well.
Yes HSBC for me as well Moved from Lloyds TSB a couple of years ago and have been very happy with them.
Bank of England only problem is, to have a current account with them you have to be an employee must be a pretty cool thing to say where your account is held though.....
